He references a Galilean transformation. That's classical mechanics, not general relativity. No space-time warping needed.

Regardless, the ball was thrown from the 47 and caught on the 48 from the stationary reference frame of the sidelines, which is actually privileged by rule. Refs blew it.

The correct frame of reference is not moving along with the play, it's the non-moving field. But that may explain the refs failure, if they were running alongside it probably looked ok to them too.

It was actually a great play.  1st down + bonus yards.

It was a shiatty non-call and a shiatty non-challenge due to a prior shiatty-challenge.
