I could barely squeeze his dialogue in that into his voice.

Oh sure, they say he's gay in the press release, but then you buy the issue and barely one frame in ten is him slipping his big furry pink cat-dick into another dude.

Nice try, DC Comics, but I've been fooled too many times before.

I was hyped for this when they first announced it last year.  Enjoyed the hell out of the short backup they had in the Suicide Squad Banana Splits special.  I'm REALLY looking forward to the full miniseries.

Ted Turner owned the rights to the majority of H-B's output*, which WB acquired via merger in the mid-1990s.  DC comics has been owned by WB since the mid-1970s.

*exceptions include H-B collaborations with Screen Gems and some of their other licensed shows (such as Jeannie, Fonz and the Happy Days Gang, Laverne & Shirley in the Army, etc)

Thx for the reminder.  Would have had to be late '90s.  The 1999 AOL/TW Xmas party had TONS of featured HB characters.  The main ball room had a no-shiat Scooby Mystery Machine and the headlining act was Josie and the Pussycats.  Like, for real women dressed up in Josie & PC costumes playing music.  It was amazing.

While I like the occasional edgy IG artwork, actually trying to make the theme into a show would be an absolutely terrible idea that goes against everything that made Inspector Gadget a good show. Gadget is supposed to be hilariously incompetent at worst, Irresponsible Captain Tylor-tier "Is he actually that stupid or is he just farking with us" competency at best. Otherwise Penny and Brain have noting to do. The show would work just fine being revived (not rebooted or a "soft-reboot") with minimal changes, like how Penny's computer book went from crazy-fantasy tech to hilariously outdated sometime in the last decade (or hell, keep it and take their technology into slightly anachronistic/whimsical territory.) Also maybe don't tie her up so much. That's just creepy, man

/I'll say it again; that Flintstones comic had no right to be as good as it was

Not really; it was mainly a role-reversal of Dyno-Mutt & Blue Falcon (giving the human cyborg enhancements & borderline incompetence, while the dog became the smart straight man).  Andy Heyward -- one of the series creators -- had previously worked at H-B on Dyno-Mutt and Laff-A-Lympics.

Another major influence, of course, was Inspector Clouseau of Pink Panther fame.  In the pilot episode, Gadget sports a moustache similar to Clouseau's ... but this was dropped in the ongoing series.

I think this sums up the problem with comics in general and DC in particular.  The previous generations of readers have stopped moving on.  Back in the 60's and 70's, kids "aged out" of comics about the same time they got pubes and a learners permit.  I know that by the time I graduated high school, my comics were boxed up and ignored, just as things I enjoyed as a child (flintstones, looney tunes, etc) were dropped in favor of comic books before that.  Now nobody lets anything go and we end up with idiotic nonsense like this.   Sure, I still see some value in these things, but they don't consume my life and are not my primary source of entertainment.
