They made a really fun holiday album a few years back. I'd highly recommend it to anyone on this thread for your holiday listening:

Army dude: Who?

You're missing out. Check out her cover of "This Land is Your Land" (played during the opening credits of Up in the Air -- great flick!)

I usually can't stand holiday tunes, but a friend gifted me that record and it is AWESOME.

I never knew of her until I was watching Luke Cage and heard her sing "100 Days, 100 Nights"
That woman has a voice that knocked me on my ass and had me begging for more.

Now I have to get that Holiday Soul Party album

Worked for years as a prison guard at Rikers. Got her big break in music at age 46. Beat cancer once and got back on stage. Didn't beat it the second time.

5 feet of awesome.

She sings backup on Sweet Jane when Lou toured Australia.
My favorite version and there are so many great ones, some even with Lou.

Article fails to mention why Miss Sharon Jones got a tribute on the Tonight Show, of all places, since she wasn't particularly well known. It's because 2 of the Dap Kings left the band to join The Roots for the show a few years ago.

/missed meeting Miss Jones by one day last year when seeing her documentary
//her version of "Eyes on the Sparrow" is amazing.
