You put that slice of cheese between two apple Toaster Strudel's and we're talking gourmet.

Did they finally break down and deep fry the butter cow?

From TFA: "You ain't from Iowa if you never had one of these."

I'm originally from Iowa, I can assure you that the above is a sentiment that is so dishonest, even a politician would be embarrassed to say it.

So on a night when he opened his cupboards and realized he didn't have much to eat, Jorgensen wanted to experiment.

This is one of the reasons I keep about a month's worth of canned goods on hand. If I were that desperate I'd just raid my supplies and eat a cold can of Chef Boyardee, or corn, or whatever.

Heh.  I grew up eating off of Corelle Living Ware® plates that exact pattern.  I think my parents may still have a few pieces of it left.  Those and the 70s Earth-tone colour Tupperware cups were pretty much the tableware of my childhood.

Sure, you are all outraged now.
But next August, they will offer this same concoction at their state fair, but deep fried.

And you all will drool.

This idiot states that "you ain't from Iowa" if you've never eaten that monstrosity, and yet shortly thereafter states that he was hungry and did it on a whim, not that it was some typical midwestern staple. Good job being an idiot, idiot. Have fun voting for Steve King the rest of your life.

That looks to be a slice of processed cheese, thereby successfully evading any possible accusations that there is nutrition or food of any sort involved in the creation of this dish.

Pulverise the pastry. Repurpose into a flour mixture.
Make cheese souffle sort of dessert topped with what ever the original filling is, such as real strawberries.
Or call Alton Brown and ask for advice.

jfc, lighten up and pull the stick out of your ass. It's just some random, saying a random thing, to be random because random humor is ironically funny to other random people. And then it went viral. Your humor detector needs new batteries.

In boot camp two pats of butter, a couple bags of sugar, and slice of bread would make a good sandwich when I couldn't get enough of the regular food. I wouldn't eat it now but food and calories were hard to come by in boot camp.

The food service hired to cater one of the lunch areas where I worked was ridiculously high-end, but  oh my, the brie and apple sandwich was addictive.

Structural Purist Ingredient Rebel, but it does open the door to a new class of meta sandwich that would also include the grilled cheese burger ( burger patty between two grilled cheese sandwiches).

As is, that's pretty gross. But honestly?

Reduce to 1 tart berry (raspberry or something) pop tart, melt brie on top, maybe add some toasted walnuts. I'd eat that.

I have had such things when I was broke. You know what else is good, if you can go pricey? I once lived on pop tarts with peanut butter on them for a week. It wasn't that bad.

I actually thought about it after posting and I was thinking more along the lines of structural purist ingredient neutral because melted cheese and pop tart filling (i.e. jelly, chocolate, marshmellow) are typical sandwich fillings, at least for five year olds.

A couple bags of sugar??

The daily mail captioned this picture as "Weighing just 1lbs 4 ounces, about the same as a bag of sugar" so I can only assume that was a hell of a sandwich.

As a Wisconsinite, I fail to see why this is weird.

I often eat cream cheese & cheddar cheese sandwiches.

And put cheese on my eggs.

And my hot dogs.

And my apple pie.

CSB:

16 of us Wisconsin Boy Scouters came out of the Cimarron mountains of New Mexico, and after 10 days, 85 miles of hard hiking, and dehydrated trail food, we were ready for a grocery store.

The first stop back to home base was a local store that stocked fresh food. We were starving.

As a leader I was the last in line at the checkout.

The clerk says "You're from Wisconsin, aren't you?".

I said "Yeah, how did you know?".

She said "Every single one of you bought cheese".

There are very few things I won't eat cheese on (e.g., most seafood), but subby, that ain't cheese.

THIS is cheese:

OMG, salty cheese crystals ftw.  I have a can aging in my fridge, going on 7 years now.  It would taste amazing on a hot cherry pop tart.
