They're about to get another problem this weekend.

Surprised that Jerry didn't lobby for Pete Morelli's squad to ref the game, he "loves" the Eagles.

Pete Morelli's crew in last 4 Eagles games

Philly penalties - 40 for 396 yards

Opponent penalties - 8 for 72 yards

I've noticed a lot of false start penalties going uncalled this season, which seems kinda odd to me.  I constantly see offensive linemen jumping the snap in what would be very blatant false start penalties in the past. This year, though, the refs dont seem to be calling it as much. Are they not paying as close attention to that anymore, or they just don't care and are looking out for other stuff?

GoldSpider: They're about to get another problem this weekend.

Yeah, no shiat.  I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish under .500.    (sorry di)

Call me crazy, but I'm just not all that impressed with Zeke Elliott.  Watched him faithfully at Ohio State, and he seemed pretty average.  Last year he had a wholly intact line, and he was fresh...i.e., defenses hadn't figured out how to "defense" him yet.

Is he a good back?  Of course.   Is he one to build your franchise around?  I don't think so.  Especially anymore that the running back is rarely the focal point in an offense.  If they don't get help at left tackle, Dak is gonna get killed.

I think the cowboys need help on 1) defense, 2) left tackle, and 3) play calling.

/but, what the fark do I know

Actually there were 16 penalties in that game.  It was that six were either declined or offsetting...

Whether true or not, when Ed Hochuli works a game, his crew seems flag-happy.
In their 27-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys were called for five penalties for 54 yards. The Falcons had five penalties for 35 yards.

Wow five whole penalties per team?! Shocking numbers. I bet that game took five hours.

2017-11-14 03:04:58 PM
And I don't want to hear anything about penalty disparity after the Philly/Carolina game.

Philadelphia: 10/127
Carolina: 1/1

2017-11-14 03:10:46 PM
If you lost by 20 points and the penalty yardage difference was only 19 yards, it probably wasn't the refs.

2017-11-14 03:16:20 PM
All those flags, and only ONCE they ejected Suh and Burfict.

Look at the drive stats.

1st: Pick, offset by defensive holding.  Few plays later, sacked on 2nd and 9, led to 3rd and 14.  Punt.
2nd: Touchdown off of a turnover.
3rd: Sacked on 3rd down.  Converted 4th down turned into offensive pass interference.  Punt.
4th: Sacked on 3rd down.  Punt.
5th: Sack/Fumble in Atl territory.  Turnover.

Second Half:
6th: Only decent drive of the game.  1st and 10 at the 12, sack, TFL, virtually no gain, missed FG.
7th: Sacked on 3rd down.  3-and-out punt.
Garbage time:
8th: Turnover on downs.
9th: Sack, fumble.
10th: End of game.

Nearly every single drive was derailed by a sack - and Garrett didn't bother to get that turnstile known as Chaz Green the hell out of the game until he had been beaten worse than a rented redheaded stepchild's mule.  Garrett never rotated help over for him.  Never kept a TE or a back over there.  They sent help to his side EIGHT times in the whole game.

You want to know what lost the game?  Garrett Can't Coach.  Pure and simple.

Also: Tyron Smith needs to be replaced.  Once the back goes, the player isn't long for the league.  He's been fighting his back for a year now.  He's a phenomenal player - one of the best in the league - when healthy.  Trouble is, he's never going to be healthy again.  Sucks, but it's the truth.  They also need to move on from Sean "Glass" Lee.  It doesn't matter how great you are 7 games a year if the other 9 are spent on the shelf with nagging injuries.

Of course, I know nothing.

4: The Cowboys SUCK

2017-11-14 03:50:56 PM
In 2015 the Patriots led the league in different OL combinations, guys were getting hurt and being shuffled around and replaced and etc. every week and yet they were a 2 point conversation away from going to the super bowl that season.

Let me play a microscopic violin for the Dallas Cowboys.

Yes I'm sure it was the mean ole refs last week not their dumpster below-replacement-tier Left Tackle going up against one of the best defensive lines in the league with pretty much zero support

I wouldn't worry about it too much Dallas, it's not like Philadelphia rushes the QB all that much. I'm sure Dak will be just fine

You obviously know enough to make an accurate prediction.

I am a ultra die hard Cowboy fan and have been for over 50 years. This year is not their year. Secondary is average at best. Yeah they are good at tackling, but how about covering tight or defending the throw so there is no catch and no need to tackle? Their 2nd man up doesn't really seem to work out for the best.
As much as I respect Sean Lee, it very well may be time to move on from him as a starter. Perhaps as the backup or an assistant coach.

The Eagles should have no problem beating the Cowboys Sunday. They are really good this year and definitely better than the Cowboys. I will watch the game and root for my 'boys, but I have realistic expectations.

2017-11-14 08:48:18 PM
Cowboys have rested behind the most dominate offensive line in the NFL. Anyone could have run for 1k yards behind them or thrown completions when they give you 5 plus seconds with no holding call

Now, the left tackle is down for 3 weeks and the replacement is getting beat like a rented mule. Good luck

This. Who the f*ck thinks 10 penalties in a game is a lot?

The Seahawks haven't played a single game that has had that few penalties this season. Hell, they've cleared that many on their own in 5/9 games.

Well, they also suck and are predictable so that plays into it. The patchwork OL isn't good at all and if a player gets to the second level, it's almost a guaranteed TD or at least a big play. I do think the disparity in offensive holding calls is...Odd. Screw it, a good team can overcome penalties and they aren't a good team. It's a good thing for Romo that he retired or he would be in a full body cast by now. Dak has the build to take the punishment but not like this last game every week.

Dallas caught lightning in a bottle last year. The Eagles will eat their lunch next Sunday and I have a feeling Dallas is looking at Garrett's fifth .500 or below season in seven full seasons as HC. Throw in the year he took over from Wade Phillips and he's coached a team that has been at that level for six of the last eight years. Garrett should go coach for Princeton where there aren't too many people that GAS about beating anyone but other Ivy League schools.

The Eagles have also lost their starting left tackle, middle linebacker and running back for the year but seem to be doing fine.

And their starting kicker. Plus their best corner for over half the season.
