Is he the last player to have played MLB in the 20th century? I keep thinking so.

A quick search shows Bartolo Colon came up in 97, and plans on playing next year.

Not gonna lie, there was a lot of dust in my living room when they showed Beltran after the WS win

Adrian Beltre, too. Also, Ichiro and Uehara if you count profesional time in Japan.

A solid career

Thanks for coming back Carlos. Enjoy retirement.

I don't follow most of the AL very closely, so when I saw him in the ALDS I did a kind of holy-fark-that-guy-is-still-playing? double take. glad he was able to get a ring finally, well deserved.

Sounds like as good a time as any. It would have been a stretch to shoot for 3000 hits. Better to go out spraying champagne than to play until you're clearly overmatched. First-ballot for the Hall of Very Good.

It's gonna take him that long to finish running the bases.

I really like Beltran, it's great to see him go out like this.  We were even fortunate enough to have him as a Cardinal for a while.
That being said, Carlos will always be on the down side of one of my favorite post-season memories.

I had the privilege of seeing him rise up through the local AA Texas League club (who have since moved, re-branded) many, many years ago. I'm happy he had such a great career, and is going out on top of the world.

Thank you, Carlos. I hope you get to go to Cooperstown one day. :-)
