Can't have the inmates running the league.

I'll say it again:

If you need a team name for bar trivia, go with this one:

A Jerry Jones Lemon Party Christmas

If you're not into the brevity thing:

A Jerry Jones Lemon Party Christmas with Special Guest Robert Kraft

/Used them both in the past.
//Somebody on TF mentioned the first one when I said I was looking for a new team name.

NFL owners must love getting sued then...

2017-11-13 05:32:32 PM
HAHAHAHAHA! Oh that'll be a load of fun to watch the NFL embroil itself in one of the most self-destructive lawsuits in corporate history. Even if one dismissed the 8 or 9 other owners that would have Jerry's back, there is no reasonably possible outcome that doesn't damage the NFL beyond whatever they think it might be worth to be rid of Jones. Absolutely 0.00000% chance this even gets to the "let's have the legal team draw up an action plan" stage. Just imagine the amount of league dirt that would get dredged up in that kind of thing!

Now could 1 individual owner, say Arthur Blank, get all legal on Jones? Sure, but there will never be any sort of full league action against him.

All the sports leagues have options to force a sale of a team if an owner is being exceptionally stupid, as any Los Angeles sports fan can tell you, since this has happened to both the Dodgers (bad divorce) and the Clippers (owner made racist comments) in recent years.  I doubt Jones has quite reached that level yet, but stay tuned, as they say.

True, but Jones has real fark you money and is well into "live boy/dead girl" territory when it comes to what it would take to unseat him. Not to mention the amount of skeletons I'm sure he could decide to unearth on the league should they ever really get close to ousting him from the club. These same farks couldn't even handle Al Davis and Jones is like Al on steroids with billions of dollars backing him up. And unlike Davis, and the ownership of the LA examples cited above, has numerous allies amongst the ownership in the league.

True, Jones has fark you money but let's not pretend he can buy and sell the league.

According to Forbes, 9 owners are worth $3 billion or more. Jones is #5 at $5 billion and Paul Allen is #1 with $17.5 billion.

The thing about rich people is they don't like other people messing with their money. Jones owns 49% of Papa John's in Texas. If they believe Jones is forcing "Papa" to speak against the league and is throwing around hiring lawyers to sue, I can see them banning together and going after Jones and there wouldn't be a lot he could do about it.

A big chunk of Jones' wealth is tied to his stadium and the sweet deal he suckered the city of Arlington into. I think I read the stadium and the rights are worth almost a billion by itself.

I don't think any of this will ever happen. I do think it's other owners telling Jerry he isn't the biggest or most powerful wallet in the room. People seem to forget that when Brady was going through his issues with Goodell, Jones said numerous times that he and the other owners stood with Goodell and he was going to be extended. I'm not sure Kraft would be willing to stand with Jones on this issue even if they both agree Goodell needs to go.

Worse than that, Jones was telling Kraft just to "take the 4 games, for the good of the league" during DeflateGate.

Lee Jackson Beauregard: If the No Fun League tells Jones to sell the team, and he doesn't, what happens? Big expensive lawsuit?

No clue what the league charter has in place for such a situation but its possible  that they could strip him of his franchise and void the contracts of the players current under contract to the Cowboys ( or other team facing this situation) and allow them to sign with other teams.   Mind all  this would likely be put on hold by court order while the legal war was being fought.  The stadium they could not touch nor would they try to if they had to take this option to remove Jerruh.   Yeah there would be a massive lawsuit and it would be hella messy.

This is just Goodell's leak to get revenge for the 50-million-and-a-private-jet-for-life leak from yesterday. Nothing will come of it.

If Texas really wanted to fark shiat up, they'd take advantage of their Congressional approval to split up into multiple states and gerymander themselves into one Democratic-controlled state and four Republican-controlled states

There is recent precedent.  The NFL forced Eddie DeBartolo to sell the 49ers, and it wound up, after a messy lawsuit, with his sister, whose bastard husband and son has since spent the next 17 years ripping apart that franchise.
