Now, with Trump threatening to issue a formal intent to withdraw from the deal, farming groups say it's clearer than ever that their pleas to save the pact are barely registering with a president intent on its destruction.

Damnit. My fainting couch is at the upholstery shop, my pearls are at the jeweler's and the nearest star is 93 million miles from here.

If only there were some way of knowing that Donald Trump was a giant asshole before last year.

I mean, he obviously did his best to keep out of the public eye, and never appeared on television or anything, openly displaying his worst traits for all to see.

"The importance of trade to economic growth in the food and ag sector is so fundamental that there tends to be an assumption that everyone understands that," one association leader told POLITICO.

"I've come to believe this administration is determined to end NAFTA," said Gordon Stoner, a fourth-generation Montana wheat farmer who leads the National Association of Wheat Growers.

What part of "I"m going to cancel NAFTA" did you not understand when Trump was constantly repeating that line?

So, you voted for Donald Trump even afta

he said he would get rid of NAFTA?

.

Perhaps we should give you the benefit of the doubt

Maybe you didn't know what NAFTA was all about

.

NAFTA isn't that important as such

A third of all agricultural exports isn't so much

.

Besides, Trump will make America a better place

especially for the leopard who enjoys the occasional face...

That's been the plan.

Use "wedge issues" of abortion and guns and gay rights to get the deeply religious (or deeply bigoted) voters to vote GOP blindly and enthusiastically, while screwing them over on every issue of actual consequence.

This. This is what I've been waiting for. The moments when his base realize he used and abused them. Worse, he gave them false hope. He knew he would never deliver and yet told them to have hope in him.

2017-11-10 09:00:42 AM
Voters often say that they hate how politicians make promises that they won't keep.  That is a lie they tell themselves.  Voters continually reward politicians who make grand and unlikely promises.  They just did.  They do this because all marks have certain things that they want to hear and so if you make a lot of promises then you increase the total number of marks who heard what they wanted to hear.

This is similar to how voters say that they hate negative ads, but that is also a lie they tell themselves.  Negative ads work.  That's why they exist.

He repeated this line over and over in various forms.  They all said "Oh, he doesn't really mean it."  30 seconds later they said "Straight-talker. He means what he says."  Now he's going to blow up your export deals and you're going to biatch about $1.80 corn and $3.25 beans.  Well, you better hope diesel doesn't go $4.50.  You voted for exactly this.  What is so hard to understand?

"Cone to believe"? Jesus, he said he was gonna farking do this, you goddamn moron. Sure, he said a lot if things, but that doesn't mean that you should be absolutely shocked on the ones he follows through on.

Here's a guilt guide to whether or not Trump will follow through on a promise:

1. Can it actually be done(No unicorns with lasers mowing down the Muslims, actual attainable goals here).

2. Can he do it with an Executive Order?

3. Is it easy?

4. Does it make him look tough to at least one mouth breathing TrumpHumper out there?

5. Is it something that Trump is woefully misinformed about, learning all he knew from places like Info wars and Fox News?

6. Is it bad for America?

7. Is it actually bad for Trump's base?

If all of these rate a "yes", then Trump is all over that shiat.

I'm actually a fan of mandatory voting.  It would most certainly change the political dynamic, and I like to tell myself, for the better. Besides, it would force those who don't really care about party politics into civic engagement.  And that would lessen the grip of the partisans, which can only be a good thing.

The upside to that is that a few people will become phenomenally wealthy in the process.  The upside to that is that they will pay very close to zero taxes on the windfall.  Then, millions of jobs will magically appear because bootstraps and reasons.

Nah. Dems aren't interested in touching those. Dems spend far too much time focusing on the needs of urban areas, though, and support pesky environmental regulations that farmers don't like.
