Not renting to people based on skin color?  That's wrong.

Not renting to people who cook with a lot of curry?  Eh......that actually makes sense.

CSB:

Years ago...I'm looking to buy my first place, and one of the town homes I looked at was owned by a family from Eritrea.  I'm sure that their meals were delicious, but the smell of curry and spices was EVERYWHERE.  If I had bought that place, replacing the carpet and painting all of walls and ceilings would have been necessary....and I'm not even sure that would have solved the problem.  It was just as bad if the owners had been indoor smokers.

/Bought a different place instead.

I've met this guy. (I've also subbed a story or two about him). To descibe him adequately, imagine him as a British Trump with a brain-dead wife (with bad breath), He tried to get my niece to rent a shiathole in Newtown from him. I asked him if I could install Carbon Monoxide detectors in the tiny, one-bedroomed flat for a week before she signed the agreement and he aggressively threatened to have me arrested. When I asked what for he just basically threatened to inflict great harm upon my person.

Don't let the curry smell story distract you, this guy is a complete arsehole who is only out to make money on human misery.

Yeah I've cooked meals that stuck in the house for weeks and months. And yeah they were highly spiced northern Indian things. Or fish. Also would like to rototill this fellow's scrotum. As a joke. But actually do it.

As a joke.

If you RTFA you will see he only refused to rent to South Asians who might cook curries. Not whites who do the same thing. He is a racist coont, and you should feel bad for defending him

I'm inclined to sneak into the landlords home with a bag of microwave popcorn and pop it on high for about 10 minutes.

Or maybe reheat a fish dish with lots of Thai Fish sauce.

That's the point. Things like that are so superficial as to be a none issue.

Meh.....there were other factors as well....the place I bought was in a better neighborhood, and the previous owners took batter care of it....and it was closer to work.

This is the reason I cook all my fish out on the bbq now too.  One seared salmon indoors in my cast iron and my wife was ready to evict me.

Maybe half. Sometimes there's spaces beneath kitchen cabinets or a bathroom vanity that are open behind the kick board but otherwise inaccessible without tearing up cabinets.

New a bloke who had a really crappy landlord.  My friend moved out when the lease was up. He did not do anything to the apartment because that just screws over the next tenant or the other tenants in the building.  Instead, one summer night, about 7 months later, he crawled under the landlord's somewhat older car and just started smearing limburgher cheese everywhere, and bits of anchovies.  I can only imagine the absolutely horrible stench in that car after the engine had been running for a little bit.

Whites might cook up some diced chicken with a jar of Palak's simmer sauce. Indians cook curry for every meal, and they reek of it. We're not talking a takeaweay vindaloo, but serious, intense spices like fenugreek and asafoetida that soak into the walls and the floor.

At least be grateful they don't chew paan, cuz that shiat leaves a stain that doesn't come out.

That is a rather precise statement of height. Between an amoeba and a paramoecium.

How high is the bar in football pitches, blue whales, or elephants?

Used to live in London 1977-1980. Being Cajun French, I'd hop a  bus to Southall, a mainly Pakistani area, Much of the food was too hot, but I just loved walking around such a brightly colored ethnic neighborhood.  One thing I can report: The whole town had that Curry and spices smell. It can be shocking for noobs.
