Police say a woman apparently witnessed the fight and ran to the parking lot, where she suffered a medical emergency and died.

Why would they say that death was unrelated, it sounds like it's directly related.

What's funny is that I just tried to find the clip of Donnie dying in The Big Lebowski and stumbled upon random internet theories that Walter killed Donnie because he was ultimately responsible for the fight. So, I would agree the two are related, based on this case law.

This sounds like one of those fw: fw: fw: fw: gang initiations. If you want to join the gang, you have to walk around with your shoelaces untied, and when someone mentions it to you, you have to shoot them.

AUGUSTA, Maine - A violent struggle inside a Maine Walmart started with a comment over an untied shoelace and ended with gunfire, according to one of the men involved, but police say a death outside the store was unrelated.

Investigators say 31-year-old Robert Potter pulled a gun on another customer during an argument Monday night at the Walmart in Augusta. They say the gun went off as the other man tried to disarm him. No one was hit.

It's amazing that "Hey, buddy.  Your boot's untied" sounds so much like "Hey, I hate everything you like and I deserve to be shot for it."  Must be that thick Maine accent.

To be fair, it's people like this that make responsible gun owners feel the need to carry a gun at all times.

The catch - 22 is, if you feel the need to carry a gun at all times you're not a responsible gun owner.

If you want to walk around with your boots untied, that's more of a Dollar General lifestyle.  Down here at the 'Mart, we got a No Shirt No Shoes No Shoes/Boots untied policy.  That last one didn't make it on to the sign but it's implied.

Man Always Carries Gun In Case He Needs To Escalate Situation

TEMPE, AZ-Stressing the importance of being prepared for any circumstance that may occur, local man James Donner told reporters Monday he carries a gun on his person at all times in case he ever needs to escalate a situation. "I never leave home without my Glock, because you just don't know when someone might mouth off to you in a bar and leave you with no choice but to turn a minor altercation into a tense life-or-death scenario," said Donner, noting that he keeps his loaded weapon in a hip holster should the need arise for him to respond quickly, and with deadly force, when he is angered by a perceived slight. "Look, I hope to God no one ever tries to hit on my wife while I'm within earshot, but in the real world, things like this do happen. Sometimes you only have a split second to react and make things exponentially more dangerous." At press time, sources confirmed Donner was pulling up next to a Honda Civic that had cut him off in traffic several blocks earlier.

Well, from a legal perspective, it makes sense, as long as the offending shoelace was 14 inches long or longer.  In one of BATFE's Tech Branch's more idiotic rulings, a shoelace 14 inches long or longer constitutes a machine gun in and of itself.  It therefore requires a $200 tax be paid every time it's transferred, which can't be paid, because BATFE refuses to accept the payment.  This means that the guy with the untied shoelace was brandishing an unregistered, untaxed, and threfore very illegal, machine gun.

Personally, I'd let it pass and duck any confrontation rather than engage a machine gun toting criminal when I only had a pistol, but that's just me.

/No kidding, Tech Branch actually ruled that.

2017-11-09 11:44:27 AM
The woman would not of had a heart attack or died after driven into a pole trying to escape what could have been a reset on the mass murder clock, if there had not been a gunfight.

I blame Walmart.

They have deep pockets. The two knuckleheads probably couldn't afford to repair or replace the shoelace they were fighting over.

2017-11-09 11:44:29 AM
Thank god we allow law-abiding citizens to be armed at all times.  It's just unfortunate that nothing could be done to stop this situation from escalating.  I mean, what's the guy supposed to do?  Just sit there and take the abuse about his shoelaces?  And if the hippie libs had their way and stopped the guy from having the gun that he pulled, he's have just had a big ass knife or a baseball bat!

Was she crushed by a huge price rolling back? I thought they did the beep beep beep.

and/or

She died doing what she enjoyed most. Saving money the Walmart way.

and a third because that's what comedy comes in (snicker)

I thought we outlawed running for people like this. Remember the rhyme: If you eat at McDonalds twice a day, always avoid running, okay?
