That makes him worse than dead.

Maybe Kevin can find a role in The Walking Dead. Other than that, I has a feeling you won't be seeing him on the screen for a decade, if ever again.

What Spacey did was shiatty but I think People are taking things a little too far.
I think the fact that he's gay is why they're being so harsh. Yet hetero sleezeballs are not seeing the same kind of consequences.

No, see at first I didn't want it to be true coz I liked Spacey as an actor, so tried to explain it away, but as more comes out you just have to accept that it looks like he's a paedophile, and a predator. Weinstein was a hetero sleazeball who had the same kinda consequences.

And an asshole to boot. He seems to treat everyone below him like shiat.

Kevin Spacey had a role as a Shakespearean Klingon?

/huh. spellcheck seems to recognize "Klingon" as a word but not "kerfuffled."

You want to get rid of Kevin Spacey?

That's just cracey.

He won't be around to enjoy

just because he drunkenly assaulted a boy?

I got confused and checked

to see which president did we just elect...

Good to see Christopher Plummer so busy- in a Dickens movie coming out in a couple weeks, and now this.  Not bad for an 88 year old dude.  Keep up the good work, Captain von Trapp!

In my opinion Christopher Plummer was the better choice. I have always liked him as an actor.

Shouldn't he be convicted of something before the tar, feathering & shunning starts?
Yes, he sounds like a monstrous perv but Hollywood seems to be jumping too quickly on this (unless they knew about him all along & are scrambling to get some distance away from him).

I was a bit surprised when Netflix dumped him after only one accusation.  Then more stuff came out, like yesterday.  I suspect his past is an open secret that Netflix saw coming.  We'll be hearing from more accusers, I'll bet.

REALLY hard to continue to employ somebody who, when accused of pedophilia responds, "I might have, I was really drunk."

SPOILERS, sortasorta

I haven't seen the latest season of HoC, but from what I heard they left the ending on a cliffhanger which could easily transition to continuing the show without him.

Seeing as a bunch of accusations come from people on that show, I think you are correct that they saw this coming, and planned accordingly.

Part of me thinks Spacey is "the distraction" from Weinstein.

/look over there.....

2017-11-09 09:49:10 AM
Vox is making this sound way more complicated than it really is.

At minimum, all you have to do is replace the closeups of Spacey, which doesn't require reshooting the whole scene. Just think about how Oscar hosts are inserted into movies during the opening clip show. And given Spacey's billing, it doesn't sound like he has a large role in the movie. As for the medium shots, they could just be replaced with existing wide shots. And in general, tons of footage is shot from various angles that goes unused; that footage can be used to reduce shots of Spacey - so instead you see more reaction shots with Plummer's voice.

As for getting the film to theaters, film is all digital - you don't have to spend weeks produce 35mm prints. Theaters need the DCP 24 hours in advance of the first screening so they can calibrate it during off hours. Speaking from personal experience, you can cut things extremely close. With a documentary I worked on a few years ago we finished editing it the Sunday before the the Friday when it would play in theaters. On Monday the DCP's were produced, Tuesday we FedEx'd them priority overnight to theaters, and they arrived at theaters on Wednesday (we were small time enough that theaters wanted the DCP 48 hours in advance).

It's extreme....but I get it.

Films, for better or worse, are still a business.  Regardless of Spacey's innocence or guilt...the spectre of each revelation -- which new ones are coming out weekly it seems -- you are already looking at a competitive box office time during the holidays -- and the cloud of your film starring a suspected predator/pedo is gonna turn people away, no matter how solid the film might be as a peace of art. Do you want the trailer of your flick announcing 'Starring Kevin Spacey', then followed up by a news piece.  'new allegations against Academy award winner Kevin Spacey - Crewmember of _____ says Spacey molested him on set of ________'

If you can't sell tickets, you can't get word of mouth, and you DAMNED sure aren't gonna get AMPAS attention during awards season.

It's a business decision -- pure and simple.

It turns out the film makers want to make money by not having a paedophile on all the promo material. What a shock!

And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'

The lone and level sands stretch far away".

"Then we keep him in the movie -"
"fark that!"
"You can't help him. You can't. Right now he's being ostracized just like the others."
