I wacky parsed that as Howard the Duck.
And was like "YEAH...that's kinda his thing"...seems to work in both cases here.

You know, if that's the most traumatic thing that ever happened to you, you've had a pretty good life.

My ex listened to his show, bought his book even. I put up with it till he made a joke out of his wife's miscarriage on air. That was too much for me.

Also never understood the love, but always enjoyed seeing him on Letterman. As the years went by, Dave talked down to him more and more. Not as bad as he did to Richard Simmons, which got really bad, but enough so that it was still amusing.

Howard Stern has always been a hack. How he ever convinced anyone we was funny or smart and worth paying millions of dollars still amazes me.

BATMAN has a sidekick named ROBIN as does HOWARD STERN who sometimes encourages his guests to STRIP which is what you call one serving of BACON.

Times like these make me wish Fark occurred in some sort of face to face format, so that I could mock each and every person in here in the cruelest manner possible and face no consequences, since you should have expected it from someone who's obviously an asshole.

The timeline on that is way off, unless you were listening to a decade-old rerun. Which is possible.

I've had that verse stuck in my head for a week. WTF?

2017-11-09 02:33:27 AM
I've never watched/listened to any shows of his, there was never anything I ever saw or heard of him that stirred any interest. I grew up in bars, I know his type. Four words pop in my head when I hear his name, Smarmy Used Car Salesman. I mean really, the guy is like Herpes but he has been consistently like Herpes for decades and from what I understand he treats all guests equally weirdly. It's all about him to him, guests are just notches on his mic, a 'look at these important people talking to me' thing. Being a dick is his shtick. He he, that could be his motto.

2017-11-09 03:00:41 AM
Well, that was a different sort of mean.  But it was a type of mean you aren't allowed to today without being scolded in social media, and might reflect a world less accepting of mean. Or at least if you can be fired.

2017-11-09 03:28:29 AM
Isn't that Stern's entire shtick, being a dick to everyone?

He's also known for being incredibly loyal and supportive to his people.

No, man, none of those women had any idea that Howard Stern was a nasty, crude person before they went on his show.
Fark, I knew it, and I barely know who the guy is. He's smart, isn't he? But I think I turned him off really fast after hearing just a few things he said about women, and nasty shiat in general.

Wretschko: The interview in question.

Carnie Wilson lied.

Howard stern had a TV show on the E! cable channel, which is where Wilson made the appearance under discussion in the article. Your link goes to a radio interview.

Having said that, I think there's a world of difference between a woman being pressured to provide sex to her boss so she can continue to earn a living, and what Wilson is describing. When she realized she was being set up for a stream of fat jokes, she could have objected, or even walked off the set. As has been repeatedly mentioned in this thread, Stern's entire shtick is being an asshole. Nobody "made" her participate in her own shaming.

I think, about a thousand years ago, I caught part of a show of his, and immediately discovered that he was an asshole and I had better things to do.

He is one of the best interviewers on the planet.  I never listened to him but started to after hearing him in my wife's car.

I am not sure about his old show but the new one can be crude and I often turn the channel on some of the recurring wack pack crap, but the interviews are consistently excellent.

He is ussally very respectful of people so I am kind of surprised by this.

2017-11-09 07:28:08 AM
I went through a period where I listened, bought both of his books, *and* saw the movie. Eventually I wised up and came to the same conclusion. Looking back, I figured out that what got me to listen in the first place was actually Billy West.

2017-11-09 07:32:42 AM
I never thought he was funny or interesting.  But fark off with this.  His entire show was him being an asshole to his guests.  They knew that going in.  Go ahead and blame the lion for eating your face next time you jump into the cage too.

Say what you want about Howard Stern, but the man is a freaking genius.

He made hundreds of millions of dollars putting naked women on radio.

No, he's really not. He got this reputation about 5 or 6 years ago when he hired a writer and researcher to help, but the more interviews he does, the more you realize he asks EVERYONE the same variation on 7 or 8 questions.

The only show Stern ever had on E! was filmed footage of his in-studio radio show. No one ever went on Stern's "TV show". They were guests on his radio show. The best moments from the radio show made it onto the E! program.

Dallas DJ Russ Martin has Shiatted on everybody he has ever met, especially women.
Here's his mugshot after threatening and pointing a gun at his ex-girlfriend.

I was his stunt boy/ call screener right after he took over after Dallas radio dropped Stern.
Our weather girl Valerie had taken a topless photo for some promo crap, and Russ was in charge of editing the photo. He put some bs black bar over her chest, and saved the file on the internet with the ability for viewers to remove the bar and see everything she had. I will say it was intentional because he showed me the before pic. He's a real POS, and one of the biggest POS I have ever met or worked with. King of POSes, and you can ask anyone who isn't currently working for him. Everybody who works with him has their mouths full of D. He also wears women's underwear. Silk briefs with tiger stripes. <--fact.

Follow my video above. That's not even the most offensive, crude skit on his old show. The early 90s show was blatantly racist, sexist, and just plain gross at times. I always found it weird watching Robin stand by and laugh while Howard would put on blackface and throw on the black stereotype act for the camera while speaking pidgin English... But apparently it was sometimes even her idea.

(best quality I could find. Later ones can be found on YouTube in which he talks about it being Robin's idea. Just... Holy crap.)

Ebenator: I'm shocked to learn that Howard didn't treat his female guests with more respect.

The tv show was obnoxious because he'd spend a half hour badgering some scantily clad woman into getting naked. Of course that's when the censor blur came, which covered more than when they were wearing a microbikini. Also, it seems weird to have been doing that on radio. "Oh yeah, she's totally naked now!"

Yes, I always remembered this interview to be mostly respectful (well, as far as Howard Stern can be "respectful") and silly, and Carnie was in on it from the very beginning. And she stood up for herself throughout when she thought he was pushing things too far.
