Stigginit.

Whenever you question any of the moves the cons make, it's because of "stigginit".

In this case, they're stigginit to liberals by hiring a reprehensible guy that liberals hate.

All a front so he can "advise" Trump via the TV

Fox can have him. We don't have cable, and I watch very little TV on the road. I may have to put up with him in a hotel lobby sometime. He's a pompous windbag. He's one of the few people that makes me want to get into full ITG mode.

Fox News pumps up 'Murica rhetoric. Somehow, I don't think a thick-accented Hungarian spewing Trumperisms is going to help improve their ratings. In fact, I think it might backfire. Which I'm perfectly fine with.

Remember in the Bush years how we had a fierce national debate regarding the objectivity of FOX News as a legitimate news outlet?  At least that's in the clear now.

So...progress?

ComradeIvan: Is not this normal to be hiring government advisors by state propaganda? Seeming very sensible!

Yes, patriot, I agree.  Advisors give advice, which they tell to state's media transmissions.  Fortunate comrades are given advice with printed papers of news, or with loudspeaker in town square.  The best paper, the most truthful, is called Правда, which means truth.  If it is printed in Правда then it is truth, because otherwise the name of the paper would be a lie.  It's as if you yankees had a newspaper called "The National Inquirer" and it printed a falsehood.

CSB- I met Gorka in Budapest years ago, when no one knew him and he was fawning over anyone who could get him closer to centers of power. I had the distinct pleasure of telling him he was an idiot then, though not in my wildest nightmares could I have imagined where he is now. Gorka thought he could take Cold War theories of deterrence and rationality and apply them to Middle Eastern terrorism-- he didn't know anything about either Russia or al Qaeda.

There's some chatter that the FSB in Budapest were more central to the Russia story than we've recognized, and while there may be some truth in Finkelstein or Gordon (and I'm sure Mueller knows), I almost suspect that Gorka inserted himself into that story because he wants to be implicated-- and therefore important.

It's worth noting that Gorka can't park.

Story one (noting that he has Special Operations badges on his car-- talk about a reach.)
Story two - where he just doesn't even try

/Kind of like our current president...

If Papandopolous knew about Budapest, Mueller knows. Every email, every conversation, every detail. Mueller knows.

That fact revealed with the conviction and indictments is the first sliver of hope I've had in a year.

It makes perfect sense for Fox to bring Gorka on board. To most people it seems mind-boggling, but remember that Fox is not a "news" organization like the ones that began our perception of television news.

Fox recognized a market that was not being catered to and targeted it. Over the years they have worked to keep that market by calling all other news first "liberal media" then "mainstream media" and now Trump turned it into "fake media" They simply cannot now start broadcasting the same stories as others. They can't be anything like CNN or MSNBC or any other news organization. If they are like the "fake" media, they are "fake" media.

Gorka fits perfectly with the narratives Fox uses to market itself to the segment of the population that they targeted and rely upon to maintain high ad rates. It's good strategy for them. It's horrible for the rest of us.

2017-11-09 04:18:18 AM
His Wikipedia page is funny:

He served from January 2017 until August 25, 2017, when, according to Gorka, he resigned because White House officials were undermining the Make America Great Again platform. Other sources reported that he had been asked to leave the administration, and was no longer allowed back in the White House.

I'd just as soon see video of monkeys flinging poo.  More intellectual content than Gorka can provide and at least it's often times mildly amusing.

That's actually not wrong. I took a class several years ago by a guy who (at the time) was at Columbia University. His work was on "risk communication."  He showed some talking head footage of a panel that included a Brit. Yes, Americans think Brits sound "smarter" and he had ways to test that perception.
