That sucks.  He was, what, 40?

2017-11-07 04:48:36 PM
Oh Fark. His perfect game was a thing of beauty and his post-season no hitter was pretty good too. Fark, I has a big sad now.

2017-11-07 04:49:08 PM
Outside of the Phillies winning the Series in 08, the playoff no-hitter Doc tossed against the Reds in 2010 is my top sports memory

Damn.....Best baseball player that the state of Colorado ever produced.  RIP Roy.

He might have been shilling for the company, but it looked like he was enjoying his time with his new plane. I mean, I don't know what I want to say. Umm, enjoy doing the things you do, even if they might be dangerous?

He didn't follow the Thurman Munson rule, and he paid the price.

God dammit.  He was a consummate sportsman and was extremely charitable.  Such a good guy, will be sorely missed.

2017-11-07 04:55:11 PM
RIP Doc.  You were one of the best human beings who ever played the game; completely down-to-earth, humble person who died way before your time.

2017-11-07 04:57:51 PM
This news comes up of left field, doesn't it?

RIP, Doc

Probably the only way the gods could take the ball out of his hand. He will be missed.

Aww dammit.  The man was pure frigging class on top of being a great pitcher.

I went to Toronto to see a Jays Yankees game where Doc was on the mound. I'm a Yankees fan but my thought before the games was I don't care if the Yanks lose if I get to see a great performance by Doc.

He pitched an absolute masterpiece. I've seen games in 18 MLB stadiums and that one will always stand out.

2017-11-07 05:08:29 PM
Doc was my favorite Blue Jays pitcher and probably the best pitcher the team ever had. I wore my Blue Jays short today too.

That's exactly what happened to the factory test aircraft in May that crashed with the lead engineer and chief test pilot on board. Twisted left and smashed into the ground.

7 of these planes have been produced ever (so far), and this one was received less than a month ago by Roy. I have a feeling that they aren't going to be flying off the shelves any time soon after 3 crashes this year so far.

Generally flying isn't dangerous. Yes, accidents happen, but in general pilots everywhere manage to enjoy their hobby in a perfectly safe fashion, so long as you respect the boundaries...

Oh.... if he was out there brushing wave tops then things can get sketchy quickly.

sucks.  to bad he got injured, might still have been pitching

2017-11-07 05:14:28 PM
This sucks. He was my all time favorite MLB player. Still is.

2017-11-07 05:22:31 PM
Just saw him pitch 3 months ago. Damn.

Halladay died near a city in Florida called Holiday during the holidays.  Trifecta in play?

2017-11-07 05:31:57 PM
Geez. This sucks.
As a Jays fan there was a long stretch of time where you didn't have much to cheer about, except every 4th game when Doc was on the mound.

I'm a jays fan and this sucks. I still remember watching his 2nd start in '98 taking a no hitter into the 9th with 2 outs. Then,  that special 2003 year was just such a beauty to watch. Every start was a must watch game. Even the trade to Philly went well, with Toronto fans genuinely wanting him to win. Doc thanked the fans in an ad taken out in the local papers and his wife continued with the charity work she had started in Toronto.  Fans in Toronto continued to cheer him through the perfect game and the no hitter in 2010, still feeling like he was our guy. That was also the year the Phillies were supposed to play a series in Toronto with Halladay getting a start but the G20 caused the games to be moved. That truly would have been a special moment.

Much too young to go, but thanks for the good memories. RIP Doc.

Appropriate, I suppose. A single engine doc killer

Roy donated a dog to the sheriff's department that gave the presser announcing his death.

The dog's name, of course, was Doc.

Ooh we ooh he looks just like Buddy Halladay.

2017-11-07 05:56:15 PM
Just saw this on TV ticker. Sucks. I would agree with Roy that his playoff no-hitter is one of my favorite baseball memories outside of the 08 playoffs.

2017-11-07 05:57:36 PM
Sucks... A guy who'd soon be in the Hall of Fame if he had played for the Yankees.
