I just want to have them get over the Negan nonsense and onto the Whispers.

Given the stupidity of the characters.  It's a miracle how any of them are still alive.

I think back to season 2 where they discover the walker in the well and decide they can't leave it in there to pollute the water so they lower Glenn down with a rope to lasso it.

Really?  How freaking stupid do you have to be to think that's a wise idea?

Just watched it. Who's gonna get captured to facilitate the plot to feature a prisoner trade off that stretches this to the end of the season as we wait for the garbage people to drop in at just the best/worst moment?

Glad to see the writer worked Trump in his review of a TWD episode.

I watched the 60 minute episode tonight (Monday) while on the treadmill for 30 minutes.  Fast-forwarding the commercials, the six minutes of "OMG my gay husband is going to die", the four minutes of, "OMG, my gay husband is dead," and the three minutes of what's-his-face pleading at the Hilltop gate and you've got a 30 min TWD episode.

Not trying to diminish the significance of the death because the guy's gay.  At best, the two of them are tertiary characters.  The show devoted 20% of the show to the death of a guy who's most famous for breaking his ankle.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, "You're a f'ing zombie show, not art.  Just because all your characters are either assholes or imbeciles doesn't make your show The Sound and the Fury."

The only explanation I can think of is that the zombie virus everyone is infected with lowers the IQ by about 50 points.

I was hoping that they'd forget about the Trash Elves, and we'd never have to see them again. But no; apparently the Trash Elf Queen is set to appear in three episodes this season. Ugh.

Well, at least the writers and producers have a long-term story arc that's gonna pay off big!

Wait, what?  They...what?  Then what the hell is the point?

I'm hoping the next scene with Negan is Gabriel stepping out of the trailer carrying Negan's severed head.

Reposting my appraisal from the previous thread:

Another week, another episode, another refusal to address why Gabriel didn't fill Negan with lead as soon as he heard his voice.

Negan's plot armor is exponentially more annoying than the magic dumpster.  At least we liked / cared about Glen.  Negan is annoyingly pathetic, like the post "Attitude era" return of DX.  Poop and fart jokes?  How edgy and entertaining.

/Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go collect my eyes

Or arm in arm with him, sharing a romantic look and a kiss.

Oh come on... Would it be any wackier than the rest of the show?

So, did the Saviors in the machine gun nest just watch all their friends die?

I mean, that's a commitment to drama right there.  Especially, when they're just going to die like every other random mook in the opening minutes of next week's episode, Morales-style.

If ever there were a show that needed an end date, this is it.

I bailed mid-way through last season. I couldn't take any more of the wheel spinning and the idiot ball tossing to create conflict. When you've established characters for this long, you can't suddenly have them make decisions or act in a way that goes against the YEARS of character development that's been put into them.

"We need Daryl to get captured."
"How about some random guy sneaks up on him?"

WHAT?!?! It's M-F'ing DARYL. Nobody is ever going to sneak up on him! He's going to sneak up on everyone else. You know how I know that? Because that's what you've established over the last 7 friggin' years.

By now, Rick's group has come to a conclusion: either taking prisoners is a good idea or bad idea. And yet EVERY FREAKIN' WEEK we have to have a discussion about it (spoilers: it's a BAD F'ing IDEA EVERY TIME!!!!).  But we need conflict. We need to get our heroes into situations. So we need them to make DUMB ASS decisions to get us there.

A television show is as good as its writing. And you can start seeing that Kirkman has WAY too much influence over the story. I know everyone lauds his comic book, but I'll be honest, the writing in that sucks too.

"But Negan is so awesome....!"
"Negan is just Hopper from 'A Bugs Life'.... Kirkman ripped off a cartoon."

I read these threads hoping for a hook to get her back into it.
My wife and I stopped watching last season, as well.
o far ... no hope.

Maybe fire the writers and start with a fresh crop?

I'd buy that for a dollar. It would dovetail Negan's wives-as-control-mechanism-over-their-men with Gabriel's priestly chastity.

The main characters can be waaaay stupider and still survive the apocalypse. That's actually the entire premise of Fear the Walking Dead.

The same battle in the comics ended rather quickly.  It would've been about 1.5 episodes worth at best.  So they're stretching it out.

After this the comic takes a serious nosedive in quality.  The latest ones are incredibly awful.

Yeah, that always drove me CRAZY about Galactica. To go through the trouble to tell the audience AT THE BEGININNG OF EVERY SHOW,  that "there's a plan" and then...no plan. Nothing. WTF??

Oh BTW, just so's I can be hip and edgy, I don't watch this show either...ever. I quit watching it before it was ever on.

Rick et al needs to make a decision on taking prisoners, like, a couple episodes ago.  They don't have the manpower or food supply to run a farking prisoner of war camp.  They can't just release these idiots to rejoin the battle later.  And just shooting them in the head seems a bit amoral.

Well, you've got three choices:

Prison Camp
Catch and Release
Execution

I can't think of any other thing to do.  Knee capping them and leaving them where you find them isn't necessarily humane either.

The only true thing to really do is have them look at the flowers.
