I'm less inclined with the discontinuation of kinnect.

Anyone know of a decent exercise "game"? I use UFC Trainer now and live that I don't have to hold a peripheral

You can get an adapter to use the Kinect still.

nytmare: Isn't that platform chock full of advertising now?

Yeah, it's great. I bought the console, pay for internet, pay for netflix, pay for HBO, and all I see when I boot it up is a wall of ads exhorting me to enhance my experience. I guess I'm happy that Netflix only has ads for content that I've already paid for. Were it not for Rock Band and racing games, I wouldn't have played a game on, much less bought a console, for generations.

So what is it exactly? Is a new system (ala XBOX 360 to XBOX One), or is it the same as the X BOX One with just a few bells and whistles added?

I have to admit most of what I use consoles for now is netflix and amazon streaming.

I'd add MLB.tv, but the season is over.

Remember how consoles didn't used have costly mid-gen upgrades, well worry no more because those days are gone! Now you will buy the same console two or three times at several hundred dollars a pop so you won't have to worry about stuttering or slow down during your favorite games.

You can thank cell phone manufacturers for getting people used to upgrading their hardware every three days.

FTFA For now, buying an Xbox One X means not having to think about buying another console for a long time.

If you define two to three years as a "long time".  Sure.

I like the people that say it's too expensive, while waiting for UPS to deliver their $1000 iPhone X(which you will buy the 11 model next year).
You can buy both the Xb1X and PS4 pro for less
You can build a VR ready gaming rig for the same price
You can buy a 55" 120HZ Roku 4KTV and a XB1X or PS4 Pro for the same price

I have to admit I did buy a PS4 Pro last year since I wanted to play exclusives and figured why not get the best hardware? Of course like I said before... all I use it for is streaming.

I've got an Xbox one and really like it since I can watch TV or Netflix or play games on the same machine. I would love one of these but I'll have to wait for them to drop in price.

It's the second option. Slightly better hardware, same console generation. Same as the PS4 to PS4 Pro upgrade was.

I have an original XBone, and I barely play it. When I do, it is usually Overwatch.

Console Gamers Complaint:

I can't afford to upgrade my PC every 5 years in order to play the latest games.

(But buying an Xbox and a Playstation so you can play all of the good franchise titles and buying a new console every 3-5 years is just fine!)

The 360 lasted seven(?) years. No reason to think the One X won't, seeing as how it's quite powerful.

That said, the lack of Kinect support is a bit sad. Having the ability to yell at the console to turn on or pause your show or whatever is cool.

The 7th generation console generation ran from 2005-2017. So ... 12 years.

Even then there were different SKUs through the product lifespan though. But that has always been a thing Even the PS2 had a PS2 slim model and that was back in 2004.

(hell, go back and look at how many SKUs there were of the Atari 2600).

The thing is, even with the original launch model, you could still play whatever games came out for the console later. The newer SKUs just benefited from faster processors, more storage, smaller parts etc.

Basically, they're the equivalent of upgrading your video card so that you can turn up the graphic settings. And upgrading the hard drive so you can store more games.

All you NEED is a Gaming tier PC and whatever Nintendo's latest offering is. BAM! Now you have access to about 99% of all games and even everything in past via emulation.
