(Newsweek)   Remember all of those times that you vote-kicked someone from Counter-Strike because their player name was Osama Bin Laden? Yeah, about that   ( newsweek.com) divider line

So I may have actually kicked/banned the actual OBL? Neat!

Also, it's morbidly ironic (or coincidental, I don't really care about the semantics) that his last night alive basically played out like a CS match. Ts tried to protect their VIP, but CT was just too overwhelming and got a perfect match.

/I know CTs usually have the VIP escort requirement

"Bin Laden kept the files for viral videos, like the 2007 clip "Charlie Bit My Finger," and for the film Loose Change, which alleges that the 9/11 attacks were an inside U.S. government job."

I'd really like to hear his opinion on Loose Change.

Kick?  Heck I might have killed him a few times.  That would actually be very cool.

OBL was probably the guy that always voted for AS_OILRIG

Well, that's always been the rumor, that back in 2009 or so, Barack Obama had the opportunity to kill Osama bin Laden in Counter-Strike, and he simply chose not to.  "We need to agree to disagree!  Diversity is important!", as Osama planted the bomb and won the round.

What the hell do you even say after that?  Imagine what Obama would do if he had the chance to kill Osama in real-life.  He'd probably make him Vice President.  Sad.

I bet he was an LPB who used headshot scripts.

You have likely been camped and teabagged by OBL.

More likely we kicked him for high ping. I can't see his internet in a cave being that good. Perhaps that was why he was caught. He move down to the compound to get a better isp.

Show of hands: How many people here actually played CS on 9/11? It was kinda weird, and the T teams were understaffed without team balancing, but I was online that day after everything had happened. I wonder if I played against OBL that day? Odds are pretty slim, since you could actually find players online back then, but it would be weird.

I did not switch over from TFC until 1.3.

Holy crap guys, major realization:

His game stash included Half-Life, Super Mario Bros., Final Fantasy VII and several Dragon Ball Z titles. He also played Counter-Strike, a multiplayer game in which a team of militants take hostages while counterterrorism authorities try to stop the attack. The documents don't say which team bin Laden preferred to play.

Osama Bin Laden was a literal cave (basement) dweller who sat around playing video games from the 90's. I can only speculate whether his mom did his laundry or if he had a stash of Mountain Dew.

I played TFC(Actually just Team Fortress at the time) for a couple of weeks until my BIL showed me CS. I never looked back... Man, CS was still a beta when I started, but God, it was fun. Once they came out with TF2, I started playing that one more, and I still go through phases where I'l play one of the two for a few months then go silent again. It's crazy to play the TF2 maps and have TFC flashbacks sometimes. :-)

But I really am Osama, he said.

Tell me something that only Osama would know.

You know the 70 virgins thing?

Yeah.

Well, there really aren't 70 virgins waiting for you in Paradise, but if you promise to blow yourself up, we let you go to all the strip clubs you can visit and still die a martyr and a saint.

Aha! Thought so!

It is like Saint Augustine said:  Lord, let me be virtuous but not just yet!

Hey, wait a minute. That doesn't sound like something Osama would know!

I am not really Osama. I am the Pope, suckah!  Burned you, good! Now die, Yankee Running Dog Capitalist Prottie!

(shoots gullible game player)

Well, remember he was in hiding and had to keep any clues to his whereabouts a secret, so his Steam name was DefinitelyNotOsamaBinLaden.

I wonder if knowing how to shoot real guns and fighting real battles would have made him a better Counter Strike player?

The Taliban were pretty crafty Fighters against all those Russians, and then Americans, and pretty much anyone else who set foot and the mountainous morass that is Afghanistan.
