I still think he picks Larry Kudlow just as a big f*ck you.

If he replaces Yellin with one of his "best people" and the market tanks, you know he'll end up blaming Obama or Crooked HIllary.

Donald is picking himself???

I read that as Lisa Kudrow and thought, "Well, ok. Not the worst choice he's made. But I didn't realize Phoebe was a Trumper."

Warsh was unavailable for comment, but two of his supporters, Heritage Foundation economist Stephen Moore and CNBC Senior Contributor Larry Kudlow,...

Stopped reading right there.  Two of the biggest economic snake oil salesmen in the world backing Warsh should be clue enough for anyone.

To be clear, this is not what Fed chairs are supposed to do.

Oh dear, he's going to get the job.

The current favorite to be the new Fed chairman is actually Jerome Powell, currently a member of the Board of Governors, not Warsh.

Current probabilities per Predictit:

Powell 58%
Warsh 15%
John Taylor (Stanford) 14%
Yellen 12%

The only possible quibble is that inflation actually might be a little too low right now.

I owe my ex a fixed amount if and when I sell the house, and I'm only about ten years into the mortgage...so you're damned right that inflation is too low!

I'm going to laugh my ass off if he picks Yellen again. And then mix myself a big glass of something in relief. Apparently she had a great meeting with him and they got along well, and that does play big with Trump. But if it's not Yellen, then the last hope for the republic may be the Republicans of the Senate Banking Committee. Let's see who we got:

Mike Crapo, Idaho, Chair
Richard Shelby, Alabama
Bob Corker, Tennessee
Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania
Dean Heller, Nevada
Tim Scott, South Carolina
Ben Sasse, Nebraska
Tom Cotton, Arkansas
Mike Rounds, South Dakota
David Perdue, Georgia
Thom Tillis, North Carolina
John Neely Kennedy, Louisiana

Yeeeah... a few sane-ish names on that list, but not many.

We are an alternate timeline now. Kristol is actually correct more often than not here.  He still needs to grow the goatee.

Which one? Art Laffer? Bill Krystol? Charles Krauthammer?

There are so many right-wing economic idealogues who are always wrong about everything all the time that you're gonna have to narrow it down, subby.

Oh. A nepotist.

If the GOP gets its way instead of farking each other over again, we'll look back on the '08 recession fondly. The way things are going, we're heading for another Great Depression, if not something worse.

The smartest move Yellen can make is to tell Trump to replace her. The economy, at best, can cruise along at it's current clip. There really isn't any significant room for improvement. Likely, a whole confluence of factors will come into play that will lead to a correction, and if she isn't in the seat, it will not be on her shoulders.

Then, when the Trump admin is out she can return and rescue the day, or, go lowbrow and take to the cable news circuit, laugh to the bank pointing out all of the flaws in the new chair's policies a la Greenspan.

Yellen is part of Obama's legacy and he can't have that.  She's also basically a "2", and is over 25.
In all seriousness, I bet #45 was squirming in his chair during the meeting like with Merkel.  We should take some comfort in that Trump doesn't make his own big decisions.  Like with Gorsuch, his handlers will just hand him a piece of paper and tell him to read it.  One would hope they pick someone not totally insane since that person has the handle on the multi-quadrillion dollar debt market and the global economy.  Of course, we did elect Trump and GW Bush one time before that.

Fired? For making his employer money? What an odd suggestion.

Now if you'd wondered why he wasn't fined $eleventy by the SEC, you'd have a point (also a sequence of [ohwaityoureserious.jpg], but that's because the SEC cut off its own balls back in the GWB administration).
