Psychopaths aren't good at what they do, but they are good at convincing their associates they're good at what they do.

Pretty much the only skill the President actually has.

He doesn't really know how to do anything.

I've never been in the military, but I'm pretty sure one does not normally get promoted from Captain to Sergeant or vice versa.

this has to be my fark level pscyhology degree, aren't the psychopaths the ones who kill you because Cap'n Crunch told them to while the sociopaths kill you so they can meet that hot young thing they saw at the last funeral and charm them into bed?

I love that Gavin Belson was in that.

Psychopath and sociopath used to mean different things. They're interchangeable now.

True. On the other hand, I knew an active duty SFC who was a LTC in the reserves.
(Battlefield promotions during VietNam, but no degree.)

Missing is the understanding that hedge funds typically aim for specific returns, and not always the highest returns possible. High returns necessarily mean high risk. They also focus on different types of investments. Most are stocks or bonds but some specialize in government paper, currency trading or commodities, all of which would tend to vary in results over the same period of time.

Psychopaths are more likely to get in trouble with regulators and that would definitely impact returns. But the baseline for "returns" needs to be expanded upon. If it was "variance from returns goals as outlined in marketing materials" then I would be more inclined to be persuaded by their results.

Study finds 'psychopathic' hedge fund bosses make less money

Hedge funds make less money overall.  They're merely an exclusive 'snob club' akin to Amex cards.
