I knew he lived in Santa Rosa, was hoping that his house would be spared....

CSB:  Was driving back from LA to Chicago with my sister and stopped to visit her friend in Santa Rosa (yes, a little out of the way).  As we were driving around, we got behind a car that had the license plate Snoopy1 of something very similar.  We were behind the car for a little while until it turned into the parking lot of an ice rink.  We thought the owner must be a fan of his, but found out later it was actually his car and we were driving behind him.

On the other hand the kite-eating tree also burned down, so that's good.

As far as I've heard (and reading it, according to TFA) Snoopy's Home Ice and the museum have been spared. Considering the dude pretty much lived at the rink he'd probably be okay with how things turned out.

Notably, this panel was from the first in a two-week run of strips in 1966 in which Snoopy comes to terms with the loss and rebuilding of his doghouse. Less than two weeks ago, Kotaku contributor Kevin Wong published an analysis of the storyline, which was inspired by the fire that destroyed Schulz's first Sonoma County studio in Sebastopol.

The Charles M. Schulz Museum has been spared, although events and exhibitions are cancelled/closed until further notice.

They are both on the North side of West Steele Lane (runs east/west), which is the southern boundary of a mandatory evacuation zone. I don't believe the fire got near to 1/2 mile of them, but if you had seen this fire, 1/2 mile is WAY too damn close. My house is within 1/2 mile of the fire edge...
