There has got to be a lawsuit somewhere in here. I have no GED in FarkLaw, but there has to be something they can do.

Maybe someone in Congress could speak out on their behalf.

(in trump's mind)
They are brown and speak mexican. They didn't vote for him.
We don't have to deport them. They are on an island (kelly showed him on a map) With any luck they will all die and Proper People can move in.  With hotels and golf courses.

No, they are all (most/ quite a few) are going to Florida and vote against the repubs.
If the repubs were smart ( they aren't) they would pass an aid bill that would be veto proof. The dems would go for that.

Either way, it is a god damn disgrace.
U.V.I is getting even less coverage and help.
Puerto Rico is farked. How farked? Slightly less than completely.
What is happening in UVI, Is a mystery.  Total news blackout.

I view this a a breaking of the social contract in the extreme.

Trump doesn't give a fark. The people of Puerto Rico are receiving a half cup of water a day. But good news, Trump scored a 73 at golf, whatever that means.

Thank God we have a free press that's on top of this crisis.

HuffPo's Jennifer Bendery is reporting that nurses in PR are saying not to believe the government numbers on water and power.  Rachel Maddow is reporting FEMA workers getting their nails done by locals while on the clock.

What the fark.

I hear that the people of Puerto Rico are having a Super Fun time finding their own water to drink. Or something like that, anyway. I wasn't really paying attention.

Saw a thing on the Facebook earlier about Puerto Rico and Flint, Michigan that was sadly amusing but of course now I can't find it.

The number of people killed is not being reported accurately either.  It's probably several hundred now.

Long story short, about 500 additional people have died in PR since Maria, but the government position is that they would probably have died anyway so they don't count.

And some of them probably would have, but to say that lack of water, food, medical services, and power has had no impact on mortality at all is ridiculous.

I suspect the death toll from Maria will end up on par with Katrina.

I don't understand why so few patients are being sent to the hospital ship.

It seems like a narural way to reduce the load on local resources.

But I suspect helicopters are in short supply and the road network is shot.  But not seeing reporting on those issues.

You've got most of it.  Like it says, they're having a hard time matching resources to needs.

Because if a the medical infrastructure is shot, there are no patients to transfer.

Let's say there is a medical emergency in Santo Domingo.  How do the impacted people call for help?  If they could call, whom are they supposed to call?  Is there anyone on the other end to pick up?  Is medical transport available?  Can it reach the affected people?  Are supplies available to provide emergency care?

If all that works out fine, then you have a patient to transfer.

Well, when you live in hurricane valley, you research those sort of things.  How much people getting?  How quick they getting it.  You put a little effort into it in terms of research and it pays off when you can say things.

j/k
Give them whatever they need to food, clothe, and medicine everyone until their businesses and residential areas (aka, the economy, stupid) is coming back.  Is that so hard to comprehend?

Lots of Puerto Ricans will be relocating to the mainland for a few years while reconstruction takes place. If you have the means to help these people relocate to swing states and register to vote ahead of the 2018 midterm elections please do. I doubt they will have any love for the Republican party on election day.

So that Trump wins reelection with a 6M popular vote loss instead of 3M?

Knowing who is running the federal government right now, I'd believe that even if it wasn't Rachel reporting it.

These shiatstains are letting people die after a disaster all while they live high on the hog.  I'm wondering what the over/under is as to when Trump and company pull everyone out of PR and leave them.  I expect it will be a week, possibly two.
