Unixfreak: Think Trump throwing paper towels at Puerto Ricans was bad?

No, I don't. I think awarding contracts to rebuild after a natural disaster to companies who donate to your personal foundation is bad. Not illegal, but certainly more of a concern than throwing a roll of paper towels. I can only imagine the millions she'd be making right now if she won.

You wouldn't have to imagine, you could see on her return.

Trump'syou have to imagine.

When I think of "canned chicken," I think pre-cooked breast, and I don't see what's gross unless someone just doesn't like canned food in general (or how to use it right -- we just had a Spam thread that covered the same kind of thing).

It's the "glop" that's in the can with the chicken.

At least that's what my first world problem with it was.  Then I became a poor, and glop is extra filler for your stomach!

Dry Ramen FTW (That shiat expands real nice, tricking you into fullness)

I live happily knowing that anyone who balks at food, has never been hungry.

Yeah ArthurVandelay, I'm with you on that. Back in the 80s when I was but a young goatling and Mama and Pops Goat were newly immigrated to this country we were poor as I dunno what. We lived In Queens and a luxurious dinner was this delicious gravy mom made out of chicken livers, served with rice. Hunger is the BEST chef.

There is apparently a thing called "whole chicken in a can" which is in fact a whole chicken in a can, which is as revolting as it sounds.

idrow: harleyquinnical: Mugato: He's clinically insane. It's not even debatable anymore.

He wants the grandeur, the prestige, and the praise.  The details do not matter.  He just wants to appear to be one of the people.  It's not that he is insane so much as the product of an upbringing in the 50's with having lots of money and never hearing the word 'no'.  He is a spoiled rich kid who wants to play Army.  A short temper and a fragile ego do not make him insane.  He is mentally incompetent, possibly due to the lack of exercise and vulgar eating habits.

He's a narcissistic sociopath, but I'm cool with the clinically insane diagnosis.  I really think there should be a psyche eval requirement when someone runs for president.  At the very least, he is mentally unfit.

No sane person could want to be president.   Catch-22

Eh. Maybe some day I'll buy one of those canned whole chickens just to try it.
They look gross because of the jelly stuff they're packed in but it's just a chicken. Anyone that thinks the canned chicken breast chunks are any less processed are lying to themselves.

In fact, they probably come from the same factory and off the same line. One chicken goes right to be a whole canned chicken, one goes to the left to be canned chicken breast chunks.

The message: there is no problem. Just a little damp spot you can wipe up with a paper towel.

The reality: as anybody who has had their house or workplace under water knows, you may have to rebuild from scratch because of water damage to everything from foundations to the roof. Roads, bridges, buildings, hospitals are all out or working at only a fraction of their full capacity.

Trump solution: Throw a few rolls of paper towel at people. Photo op.

ONLY ONE HOSPITAL OUT OF 68 IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL. THROW THOSE PEOPLE SOME ROLLS OF PAPER TOWELS. IF THEY FAIL TO REBUILD FROM FOURTH WORLD CONDITIONS, THEY ARE PATHETIC, LAZY, DUMB.

Absolutely nothing.  In the words of the late Douglas Adams:

I'll try this one more time for the slow children...

This was not a ribbon-cutting for a paper towel factory, where it would have been completely appropriate and fun to toss some paper towels around. This was tasteless and inappropriate at a photo op where you are supposed to be distributing relief supplies. It wasn't even an error in judgment, it's Trump showing the country once again that he is a sociopath with a complete lack of empathy for anyone not named Donald Trump.

And as far as the crowd being amused by President Tone-Deaf's antics, they were a friendly audience. If you think the crowd at that church wasn't hand picked you've never been to a political photo-op before. You know how you can tell? Because the average Puerto Rican would have walked up to that pendejo and kicked him square in the huevos.

It doesn't change the fact that those who voted for him are shockingly stupid.
And he didn't "outsmart" anyone. He said a bunch of stupid shiat and stupid people went with it.

B: Gently?  Coulda' fooled me by the tone of this thread...

People on Fark would rather be outraged than contemplate the fact that the folks in Puerto Rico might have appreciated the visit and a bit of levity.

I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that you do not know anyone currently in Puerto Rico.

I do actually.

The article said that people were laughing. You fail at reading comprehension.

No he didn't.  He gave the propagandized-right the hate they crave is a purer form than the usual dog-whistles.  So they chose him over the candidates who were still afraid to bring the hate out into the open.

If not for Comey and the Russians, we would not have a demagogue in office right now, and would not have hit fast-forward on America's decline by electing a senile narcissist.

He's in touch with the people he represents.  This is the first time in my lifetime that we have a President who wants to be the leader of bigoted Americans, instead of all Americans and the free world.

His personality disorders and poor taste made him a joke in New York, so he now feeds his narcissism with the adulation of bigoted yahoos who want America to be a banana republic.

Unfortunately 2017 reactionary Republicans hate Lincoln.  The Republicans today are not progressives like Lincoln.  They pander to Confederates and other losers.

The President represents every person in this country.  That is how elected officials work.  And the truth is that the majority of people did not vote for him.
