But this is good gun-murder, not bad gun-murder.  Totally different.

At the risk of repeating myself, America's mass shooting don't seem to be going away. So if this is the approach Netflix wants to take, they might as well shelve the whole damn thing now.

I certainly understand why

I never stole a car in my life until I played GTA. I never shot at cops in my life until I saw The Shield. I never, ever robbed a bank until I read Superman comics. So yeah, we should be getting rid of more of this crap to stop Americans from acting like assholes, because we never acted like this before mass media was invented. Nope. No siree.

You guys seem to be under the impression that they don't want to encourage gun violence and are bringing up how "GTA doesn't cause crime" or "Watching Batman doesn't make me jump on roof tops dressed as a bat".

HEY IDIOTS, it is not about ENCOURAGING violence.  They just know that a hero based around gun violence is not going to be palatable after real gun violence has left such a bad taste in everyone's mouths.

In much the same way you might not want to watch a movie about a plane crash after seeing a plane crash on the news.  IT SUCKS THE FUN OUT.

The industry did the same thing after Columbine.  There were alot of films and shows that got put on hold for a bit until things got sorted out.

It's easier to weather an accusation that you're more sensitive than you need to be than it s that you're totally tone deaf.

I've seen a few others wearing them but most of them seems to be in it for the shirt, not douchebaggery.  And most of them would also lose a slap fight with a slice of bread.

Yep.

Because with the way this shiathole nation is now, if they're waiting a "respectful period" after the next mass shooting to release the show, it'll come out sometime in 2357.

If Netflix really worried about fools like that then they wouldn't release shows like "Big Mouth" or "Dear White People" whose whole thing is upsetting those dipshiats.

Feel free to whine about how Netflix is collapsing to some kind of unseen social pressure, but maybe think that an entertainment company might actually be more worried about releasing their show in a context that is conducive to enjoyment rather than in the wake of everyone watching videos of murder victims which has been dominating people's news feeds.

I wonder if that's a case of overthinking it though.  Like, if you're in the demographic that wants to watch a Punisher show, are you going to change your mind about it because of current events, or are you still just going to watch it because you were going to watch it anyhow?

I guess there's concern about people who wouldn't have watched the show ayhow being offended by it instead of just ignoring it, but man I hate having to lose something I enjoy because somebody else took offense to it.

Yes, in the story about a TV show's release being delayed because the subject matter is too reminiscent of a recent mass murder... You are the victim.

Don't worry, I am sure the latest in a line of ultra successful TV shows that has already been filmed will not disappear.  Just like how any hope of effective gun laws will evaporate in about two weeks when everyone but the victim's and their families forget everything.

Mass shootings are background noise at this point. We don't go more than 6 months without one, and no one cares enough to figure out a way to get the weapons out of reach of the nutters.

So why delay a fictional entertainment show with guns and shooting in it when we're perfectly fine with real guns and shootings happening on a regular basis?

Speaking of Batman, so he doesn't kill except in the Burton films (he sort of killed Qui Gon by not saving him), he does beat the shiat out of them. What if a criminal had a heart attack or an aneurysm or something? And three year olds dress like Batman on Halloween.

There's a line in The graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns where Batman thinks about all the people he killed by letting The Joker live.

The point is stop doing meaningless gestures every time something like this happens. It makes us all look like dipshiats and it's not fair to the dozens of people who work on these projects.

If you have to boycott something, which you don't aim your misguided ire at the new Friday the 13th game coming out. That looks farked up,

Your world seems fun but here in America, the average person not personally affected by these types of events post a few "thoughts and prayers", may have a moment of silence or two, then they quickly move on.

For proof, see the after effects of every other mass shooting that happened before the most recent mass shooting. That's why nothing changes. That and elected officials make policy based the amount of money streaming into their wallets and where the money if streaming from. Not for the benefit of the country.

2017-10-06 02:43:55 PM
Why would they push it back?  This is clearly the farking American dream!   I mean, it must be, right?  Because if it weren't so then there would be some reasonable constraint in place to make it harder to just go out and get a hundred guns and murder dozens and dozens of people.  And, since no steps have pretty much EVER been taken, and the populace has never stood up to their elected representatives and MADE them make a change, then everybody is clearly alright with it.

I mean, look at Australia -- they didn't like it happening so they stopped it from happening.  Period.  Done.
The US clearly wants it to keep happening.
