Some of them are rich hateful authoritarian dickbags. And they still have influence in the highest echelons of power.

Stephen "Goebbels" Miller has entrenched his position, for example, despite the departure of Bannon and Gorka.

The conservatives constantly harp about Soros and his funding of liberal causes, but here you have a group of multi-millionaires and billionaires pushing a racist, white nationalist agenda.

...huh?!

Oh, I mean, I get it - you're on the "Both Sides Are Bad Concern Trollapalooza" bus - but attempting to claim that a concerted, years-long effort, funded by some of the richer right-wing assholes this country has to offer, to embrace neo-Nazis, white nationalists, teabaggers, MRAs, and all of the conservative disaffected that they could scrape up in an effort to rebrand them as an "alt-right" movement, is somehow equal to the foolishness you've posted is a study in moronic equivocation.

Being an alt-right apologist is bad enough, but to know - to actually see evidence in front of you - that these assholes were working with neo-Nazis and white nationalists, all the while lying about it through their farking teeth to anyone & everyone who confronted or even suspected them, and to then post this weak-ass concern troll shiat? It ill becomes you.

fusillade762: I wonder how the Mercers endgame jibes with the Kochs.

The Kochs seems more focused on obtaining the 'old-school', pre-Tea Party goals of the GOP, namely reductions in or outright removal of so-called Entitlements and social programs (including the ACA), and tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, specifically the repeal of the Estate Tax. They are willing to go along with other goals, but they seem hell-bent on repeal of the ACA and the Estate Tax, with other tax cuts for the rich, as well.

These Mercers seem more interested in Bannon's kind of Republican Party, namely extreme Immigration reform, and otherwise empowering the Whites over other races. They seem to be behind much of the populism that has run rampant first with the Tea Party, and then exploding behind Trump's rise to power. Surely the Kochs had their hand in this, as well, but it appears that was only a means to an end.

The only saving grace at the moment is that Trump is a buffoon.

The Mercers and Bannon, on the other hand, are in it for the long haul with billions in cash, infrastructure, and relentless propaganda.

Trump is the opening salvo to this, not the apex. That's the reality if these nationalistic white supremacists continue to gain traction. They are dedicated, full time, to seeing their vision of not only America, but the world, come to fruition.

It won't magically stop. The efforts in opposition need to unite and work twice tirelessly against this, otherwise the slow drift to a very bleak future for many will continue.

What was called race baiting, this article proved to be "correctly identifying racists." The wedge isn't being driven by people who can successfully spot racists, but is being driven by people who will provide excuses for racists when the racists' political positions are in line with their own.

If you don't want to be lumped in with the racists, un-align your views from the racists to distinguish yourself.

I'll probably wade into the poop with this assertion, but I have a feeling that when Milo says he's disavowed racism, I believe him. It is genuinely possible that he really thought he was just being funny and edgy and provoking and making big jokes without being aware that that gives shelter to people who mean it. We must know a thousand people like him; twelve year old mindsets who get off on pissing off the grownups. He just never outgrew it.

Think about that kid you knew in Junior High with the swastikas all over his Trapper Keeper. He wasn't making a political statement; his goal was to freak out the teachers. Now imagine he's making a thousand bucks per swastika. That's our man Milo.

A guy who disavows racists and Nazis only when confronted by a journalist hasn't really disavowed racists and Nazis.

He's an attention whore. If he threw the same amount of attention whoring energy into a disavowal tour as he did when he was willingly their mascot, then *maybe* people will believe that he isn't a racist.

The things you joke about are people suffering trauma.  Microagressions aboslutely hurt people, especially vulnerable groups. And safe spaces save lives. Literally.

I used to laugh about safe spaces in the early days - until I actually met folk they had saved. Funnily enough, I met them after getting denied entry to a safe space. I dated a bisexual girl who went to one of the local Stonewall support groups - I accompanied her there one time and got refused entry. So I'm left outside, grumbling to myself when one of the kids (oh sweet Jebus, I'm old enough to say they were kids now) comes out for a smoke break and we start chatting.
Turned out he'd attempted suicide twice because of the harassment he'd been getting since he came out, and it was only because of the group that he'd not attempted it a third time. Having somewhere where he absolutely knew he didn't have to worry about anyone attacking him because of who and what he was, and getting the support from people who could relate to his experience in a way I never could saved his life.

I met the rest of the group over the weeks, and I learned their stories. And that's about the point when I stopped being resentful when they all disappeared into the building without me and understood why they needed a safe space.

That's what I hated most.   Ill admit I'm a closet milo video binge watcher.   I hate the way the college campuses especially seem to have become breeding grounds for a new kind of fascist identity politics where whoever is the most aggrieved becomes the most influential.   So . . . .I get off on watching him annihilate and trigger these pussy ass kids were raising.

But . . . that was really troubling.  I'm not going to vote republican ever, and I don't support white supremacy or Nazis or any of that shiat.   But. . . . like many people cited in that article,I am a long time leftist kind of pissed off with where we are going as a movement.

Its interesting how guys like milo and to a lesser extent Shapiro really resonate with many democrats who secretly despise snowflake liberalism but would almost never actually vote republican.  People like me who want there to be freedom and equality but don't want to be lectured about how intolerant they are because they arent super comfy with whatever the latest identity politics trend is.  Democrats who don't think cops are scum.   Democrats who own guns and like guns.   Democrats who believe in border security and don't want to be lectured on the cruelty of a wall or securing the border.

This is why the current gun debate is so important.  Pushing away moderates and chastising them because they aren't as angry as you or angry with the same things is just foolish.   Its partly why we have trump as our president.

To me that article painted milo as an attention seeking avaricious and obsequious kind of toady at the feet of real movers and shakers.   It painted bannon as thinking he's the man, but really being the same kind of obsequious toady just to a higher level of boss.  Also bannon comes off as . . . .just kind of dumb.   Cunning no doubt.   Able in some weird ways to navigate the halls and yachts of power well but ultimately just kind of simple and easily played.

Trivia Jockey: What an ugly hate machine.

That's the thing, though - it's not a "hate machine," but a "power machine." They created a transformer that turned disaffection, anger, and hate into political power, and then directed that political power as they saw fit. It's why they're so brash about their whole "legal defense" threat - Milo, Bannon, and others saw these assholes as malleable, and a bunch of these folks beat these assholes into a passable weapon of political war. They manufactured a power base that, while based on disaffection, anger, and hate, could be exploited without too much difficulty.

The fun part is realizing that, once "the endless tide of 1488 scum" read this, those racists and Nazis are going to be more than a little angry at Milo, and Bannon, and all the other assholes who laughed at them behind their backs even as they pitched and directed them to their faces. The "Master Race" wannabes just got manipulated by a gay Jewish guy.

You could get pissed at trans people for making their issues part of the election, or you can get pissed at Republicans for making oppression part of their platform. Republicans make bathroom bills and ban trans soldiers from serving because they are trying to tap into people like you.

Republicans are the ones that make identity politics a thing. Democrats don't necessarily campaign on it.

This...this is an actual thing?  Here and Now?

Yes it is. Moldbug is one of those socially retarded ass-pies who is obsessed with "functional programming" (an idiotic approach to coding that resonates with folks who can see the world only in terms of black and white), and thinks authoritarianism is a great idea. Like most people who hold moronic views like that, he's not self-aware enough to realize that, if authoritarian rule were instituted, he'd be one of the first ones against the wall. But he's sure he's one of the supermen who will be allowed to rule the rest.

For some reason the Venn diagram of "likes Nazis," "takes video games way too seriously," "enjoys functional programming," "wears fedoras and describes self as a 'nice guy'," "can't get laid," "hates women" is pretty large.

Yeah in retrospect, I ran into a LOT of that Venn Diagram hanging around Sci-Fi Cons in the early 90's but I wasn't aware enough to know what I was looking at.  They were almost all men, working in comp-sci jobs, had limited to non-existent social skills and grooming habits and most had a nasty case of the Madonna-whore complex to boot.   They'd worship the women who actually went to cons, A lot less nerd girls back int he day)....right up to the point where the object of their affection turned them down, and then they often got angry and on occasion violent about that (Back then I was 6'2 and 325 my self and  some of of that wasn't pure fat so Con security was my favorite gig) Eric Raymond was a fixture those cons who was sorta the archetype of the breed.

A smart friend of mine from those days who was a frequent object of those affections and is now a trained anthropologist tells me that toxic tribalism we see in Gamergate and elsewhere isn't new but festered in SF and Geek circle for a LONG time but was  just a bit more muted because of the lack of a platform like the internet where people like that could find validation and reinforcement

Valuable insight. Thank you.

Was just going to say it, you beat me to it. Touching, insightful, and spot the fark on. I like the cut of your jib good sir.

And I the cut of yours. Thank you.

Nice story, I had a similar experience. I had a group of friends who ran the gamut of LGBT. I used to hang out with them all the time and attended many of their parties. The primary couple at the head of the group was one of my best friends and I had spent most of my socialization with them and in their house. One weekend I found out that they had a HUGE party that was a blast, which I was not invited to. I got pretty hurt about it as I knew 90% of the attendees and 75% were considered close friends.

A few weeks later I brought it up with a chip on my shoulder. My friend patiently explained to me that I was the only cis-gendered white hetero male in the group and that the party was focused on the identity of LGBT. While they were all my friends, it wasn't a space designed for me. It was a LGBT party and the party was meant to be a place where they could all be themselves without worry. Even though I "was cool about things" I still was outside that circle. My non-invite was not meant as insult but as a protection of their friends and their good night. I got it and apologized for my behavior due to it and ended up discussing this with multiple other attendees.

People like to pretend that safe spaces are new or just for "millennials". While the official title is a new thing, but they concept has been around for a long time. Safe spaces are a thing which are important to everyone. Everyone seeks out safe spaces. For some these are a refuge from harassment or abuse. Others they are a place where they feel they can fully express themselves without fear of retribution or harassment.  Safe spaces are anywhere that you isolate a group to feel safe/comfortable. Good old boy clubs are safe spaces. Guys night in the cabin/icehouse is a safe space. Kink nights/shows are a safe space. Girl talk is a safe space. When I don't invite X over because they are going to piss of Y, I am creating a safe space.

Just because I like to watch him make pussies squirm doesnt mean I fall in lock Step with his views.   But here, and in modern society admitting I watch his videos and laugh makes me a Nazi

Terrible reason to be a fan of someone, but that's your bag, so hey. Stigginit-type attitude is what got us the most internationally despised president in history. What could go wrong?

You never had a guilty pleasure?   I like public freakout videos too, but I usually feel bad for the participants.

Im honest and stand up about it.   Ill take whatever criticism people want to hurl.   The dudes a professional troll.   I just like that he trolls people I think are ruining my party.

please explain why trolling is at all worthy of even a guilty pleasure? Either you don't believe what you are saying and you are intentionally lying to upset people,  in which case they are a shiatbag.

Or he actually believes what he says, and is legit a shiatbag.

Either way, its complete nonsense.

Are you kidding ?   Trolling people for fun is an ancient tradition.

Watching people get trolled is the same.   Theres tv shows about it, umpteen youtubers doing it to the tune of millions of views a day.

Its not moral, its not right, you wouldnt want your mom to get trolled and get angry and act a fool.  But . . . .it can be funny and a guilty pleasure.  Like the freakout videos.  ,I feel sorry for most of the freaker outers.   Wish they would not have had an embarrassing moment caught on video.   But. . . .like many many others I will watch for a little guilty entertainment.

Call me weird then, but watching others suffer doesn't bring me joy. And in all the cases so far where youtube people or tv shows "troll" people, it ends with letting them in on the joke.

I really don't like my ex now, but she was raped when she was a teenager by her first boyfriend and we both agree that was terrible.  If someone decided to "troll" her that rape victims are at fault for getting raped, i would feel zero percent bad when she takes his knees out with a baseball bat.

Me neither.  Crush rapists and people who would troll rape victims about their rape.

These people can't be let in on the joke because to them its not a joke.   To them if I dont respect your desire to choose a new gender identity whenever you want I'm denying their right to live.   When in fact I'm saying "no, youre a dude who thinks hes different things on different days.   Youre not a woman, a dragon, a wolf, or an attack helicopter"   and that doenst make me trans phobic.   I don't care what you "identify" as.

So you are fine with people trolling, but just over topics you approve of? Gender is fine, rape isn't. Should i tell gun nuts their kids deserve it when they get killed? Or is that inappropriate? What about sexual assault victim, telling them they muat have been at least partially to blame?

And if you think it shouldn't be trolled about (like rape) but someone else does, aren't you in the same boat as us "snowflakes"?

LOLWUT

I presume you mean the last full sentence to be your summation of what you think people who support "identity politics" believe? So in your mind, a BLM supporter would wish you dead if you don't go march with them? Um, have you met a human recently?! (Note: people may yell at you on Twitter or call you racist if you ignore a cause that primary affects the civil rights of another race and thus makes it easy for you to ignore because you apparently don't know anyone of that race. I dont' think this counts as taking away your rights?!)

In contrast, "identity politics" (read, "civil rights") has given us more police accountability for shooting of the innocent (and/or minor criminals) who happen to be black, more rights for gay and trans people, and an attempt at more diversity in politics, which generally helps reduce a close-minded culture.

You gotta hand it to Fox News; they've done an excellent job of convincing the world that "identity politics" means that a minority should get a job, no matter how unqualified they are. As usual, Fox News is deliberately wrong.

And it's too much for you and yours.   In a way I understand.   You are White males in a system that is DESIGNED from the ground up to confer upon you EVERY possible societal advantage, and still you generally fail at completing life's basic tasks: achieving financial security, having a lasting, meaningful intimate relationship, reproducing.   And so rather than take stock and realize there is something wrong with YOU and do some real work to fix it, you blame society, you play the victim even though you started life winning the genetic lottery.  And when people do thing of which you do not "agree" well that's infuriating because it drives home just how powerless you are  and how even your  privilege, which already failed you is getting thinner and less useful by the day

Man that is so not true.

One issue is the false equivalence, elevating "antifa" since Charlottesville, so we get a 'both sides are bad' issue instead of GODDAMNNAZISINAMERICANANDTHEWHITEHOUSE!

At one point, articles about antifa post-Charlottesville actually outnumbered those of the alt-right/white nationalists/Nazis who MARCHED WITH TORCHES AND CHANTED 'JEWS WILL NOT REPLACE US'.  National Review called them 'twin cancers.'  CNN did an 'unmasking antifa', etc, etc.

Which is not to say there aren't legit criticisms of the far-left, but, wholly sh*t fark, people, we're talking about literal Nazis, and they worked in the f*cking White House advising the President, hiring staff, and, at one point, were on the National Security Council.

Boxingoutsider: JerseyTim: This really is a terrific piece of journalism.

On top of being a racist and overall horrible person, the fact that Bannon doesn't spell out "are" and "you" and writes things like "Dude!!! LMAO! ... Epic" in emails makes him that much more despicable.

Gonna go out on a limb and guess that you're a white middle class male. Not that's a bad thing. It's just that it's easy for you to be drawn to his ideaology because it's liw stakes for you. If the Milo and the Bannons of the world hold power, you're fine. White, middle class males will continue to be most powerful in society. If liberals hold power, you'd still be fine but maybe not the default power setting or centered in discussions. So it can feel like liberalism is going in the wrong direction because from your position, it's shifting power away from you.

And I think the college campus snowflake bullshiat it based on cherry picked campuses and push polls. Colleges are still popping out just as many Nazi sympathizing, khaki wearing Young Republicans as they are graduating hairy-pitted, tatted SJWs.

Ned Stark: I absolutely condone interracial realationships. Not once have I ever claimed that being involved in one was wrong in any way.

I'll start off by saying that this part is in no way an attack - but you don't 'absolutely' condone them, given you advise people to stay out of them because you believe they're doomed to fail. You accept them, but maintain it's a bad idea. And that's part of the point.

So let's recap (because this has been a very long thread).  As far as I understand from the posts you've made in the thread, you advise against mixed-race relationships because of a high divorce rate that means, to you, that they're doomed failure through tensions that arise because of different ethnic backgrounds. Then you're told that a suggested theory was that the divorces weren't so much backgrounds of the couple so much as the external influences that range from outright racism, to smaller scales of discrimination and social acceptance and influence and don't quite understand why anyone would think your attitude plays into this - especially the last part about social influence.

It doesn't make you a racist (well, unless you insist the divorces can only be because of irreconcilable differences between races in the face of more likely theories put forward by the folk that actively study these things), and that's not what I'm accusing you of being. But I am saying that by telling people that interracial relationships are a thing to be avoided, you're contributing to the smaller factors that put pressure on those relationships in the first place. You help create the very situation you warn people about. You might not mean to. You might never have wanted to. But it's what you're doing.

Look at it this way: by perpetuating the 'attack helicopter' meme, you are making it so much easier for others to spread the mockery and marginalisation to 'actual' transsexuals. More to the point, it lets you rationalise siding with a person who actively maligns trans people and tells people to attack them.

"Never feel bad for mocking a transgender person. It is our job to point out their absurdity, to not make the problem worse by pretending they are normal. Much like fat-shaming, if our mockery drives them to get the help they need, we may save their life."

Funny thing is, most places that cite the massive failure rate of interracial marriages usually bring up the L. Bratter and Rosalind B. King study which relied on a small sample size, and with the highest peak of interracial marriage failures happening with couples who were together in the late 80's - which were understandably not a great time to be an interracial couplein the US or UK (hell, the 90's weren't great either: we had a local group of assholes who took exception to my mother dating a black man when I was a kid which started with bricks through windows and culminated in an attempt to set the whole apartment block on fire).

The later study by Yaunting Zhang and Jennifer Van Hook used a larger sample size and couples who had gotten together in a later time period which shows that, while racial differences and difficulties were cited as a factor in the divorce, the divorce rates themselves were more on par with the average for same-ethnicity pairings. Hell, white/asian marriages actually pulled ahead in terms of stability.

This has become a fairly typical Fark politics thread.  Lots of "both sides do it," lots of "Im not really a right wing Nazi," lots of "Democrats did this to themselves because they don't listen to the other side."

Im not sure any of that is important.  I think what is important is that we still don't have a handle on internet media, and that such a stupid bunch of idiots (and Im not talking about their views as much as I am their base ignorance on any number of issues) could sway people so much.  Not to say that this couldn't happen before...but not to this extent, and not with such ease and simplicity, and not for so low of a price.

And thats not even taking into consideration the issue that much of this media was supported by Russian propaganda efforts on Facebook and Twitter with the intent on stirring the pot.

Ned Stark: No, I don't believe that. Stop turning the intensity of things to 11inside your own head and then blaming me for the resultant nonsense.

Okay, so you're apparently warning people off because of a 20% chance of failure in marriage, based on a cherry-picked portion of a study that's increasingly irrelevant as said relationships become more common and marriage less so. The point here is that you're still advocating for avoidance of mixed-race coupling based on a faulty premise.

People simply aren't the fragile little glass statues you're imagining them to be here. No one is ending their marriage because someone somewhere is aware of a demographic fact that suggests the marriage is 20% more likely to fail. They've got real problems to deal with.

No, they aren't so fragile as to crumble under one person telling everyone to avoid the relationships because they're more likely to fail. And I never said that was the case. But when you have multiple people saying that, amongst everything else - the higher prevalence of firsthand racism, hostilities from families and other groups, harassment of their children for being mixed-race; it's placing another straw on the proverbial dromedary's back. If everyone is telling you your relationship won't succeed for various reasons, guess what happens?

One person is easy to ignore. A whole society is nigh-impossible to.

It's almost as if you're missing the point on purpose.

Dang It Ned. You've backed yourself into a corner here. I feel for ya.

My dad told me, when I introduced him to my black girlfriend (later to be wife) that I should be mindful of the pitfalls of interracial relationships. He wasn't saying don't do it, he wasn't trying to discourage me (matter of fact he elbowed me in the ribs and said she was hot lol). He was matter of factly pointing out to be mindful of how I behave, respond, and talk within the frame of our relationship. He knew that since I could NEVER EVER fully relate to her experience as a black woman in America, that I was in peril of stumbling over my own whiteness, as it were, and farking it up.

Is that what you've been trying to say? Because, love ya buddy, but you've done a shiat job lol.

Isn't that the point I just made, and that the study alluded to? That there will be problems in mixed-race relationships suffer tension borne from societal attitudes and treatment? At least, I think it is because those two sentences barely made any sense.

Howzat? I've never abused a mixed race couple in my life. Why would I?

Abuse was never mentioned. Attitude was. You [and that's the general 'you', not the specific) can still make life hard for a mixed couple without putting on a white hood. When people say "there're still certain attitudes and views that cause issues for mixed-race couples", and you say "Exactly! That's why I don't condone those relationships at all", that should be a point where you (that's the specific 'you' this time, not the general) badly need to be taught about the concept of 'self-fulfilling prophecy'.

I absolutely condone interracial realationships. Not once have I ever claimed that being involved in one was wrong in any way.

Boxingoutsider: Rapmaster2000: Boxingoutsider: Nah.   An idiot calling me an idiot means nothing to me.   Someone saying I dont embody any democratic ideals is just an idiot.

I love to engage, especially with people who are smart and educated and disagree with me.   Tests my views, forces me to be smarter and better.  I dont mind losing an argument or a discussion or changing my views.

But . . . .and both sides do this way too much, when its all about purity tests and identity politics (you support gay rights that means you are against my god,or you don't support safe spaces on college campuses defined by race which means you are a virulent racist) its ridiculous nonsense to me.

But. . . . .thats where we are.   Both parties figured out its wildly effective and cheap.  It may turn off 15% of your base give or take, but someone like me will always vote democrat even if we nominated a candidate who wanted to ban so called micro aggressions.  Energizing the base and trying to grab a little piece of the middle in key spots seems preferable to broad based support that may turn off your base.  Thats why both partys candidates have to bow and grovel to the issue of the day to their base, regardless of whether they think its worthwhile to do so.

Hey, I'm just like you.  I don't bow down to the Republicrats or the Democans.  I'm my own man.

I'm a libertarian, Dottie... a rebel.

shiat, i bow to democrats.   I pull that lever every damn time.   Regardless of however i feel we may be losing our way a bit, its still better than the alternative.

My only advice is don't cave to their assertions of reality.  I work in an office, and one of my coworkers is a trump voter.  He's a good guy, he means well and likely just drank the kool aid while he was unemployed about how Trump can save us.
He's got three kids and he tries to teach them right from wrong.  He's not the embodiment of white power, heck he's awkward and stutters but he means well.

Point is, don't buy into this belief of duality, we are all shades of different colors.  Heck the only commonality is that we are all meatbags slowing moving towards our eventual demise, a flicker in a infinite void.

So don't let the "putting people in boxes brigade" get you down.  Just get involved with local politics and realize that its a damn impressive thing that some of your neighbors are able to both have pants and shirts on because my god is there lots of dumb people.

Not in regards to relationships, I didn't. Someone specifically brought up biracial children.

Meh, one of my kids has the sickle cell trait passed down from mom. Not a biology guy, but apparently the trait developed to stave off malaria or something. Is that what we are talking about here?

More or less. Biracial kids get two chances for weird ethnically centered genetic disorders(like sickle cell). Also, really unusual combinations can have a rather harder time finding matching donors for anything.

Fairly trivial stuff.

Wait, what?  Sickle cell is caused by inheriting two recessive abnormal hemoglobin genes, and a white parent is unlikely to have one to pass down.  How the hell are you figuring they're getting "two chances"?

Valuable insight. Thank you.

goat012006: Dang It Ned.

I should add that he not only wasn't trying to discourage me, he was actively telling me she was the one. He was worried I would fark it up and lose her. Thankfully, I didn't and she still hasn't thrown me outta her life. 13 years together and haven't missed a beat.

Look, it's really very simple.

You are making a generalization that mixed-race couples have a higher failure rate, with zero evidence.  it appears to us that you are using this fallacy to justify your own personal revulsion at seeing white girls with black guys so that you don't have to admit to yourself that you're really just (at least subconsicously) bigoted but rather are just so very concerned about their happiness. There are only two possibilities: Either we are correct in our interpretation or you are just incredibly wrong in your demographic analysis.

Even IF your wild assertion was true, SO WHAT?  People date, live together, even marry, and then sometimes it doesn't work out.  Who cares?

Actually, I'll tell you who cares:  People that think the various races among the Human species were originally geographically separated (be it by nature or God) for some deliberate natural purpose rather than just as a matter of evolutionary happenstance.  We have a term for those people: Racists.

Boxingoutsider: weddingsinger: Boxingoutsider: JimmyTheHutt: weddingsinger: Oh, man, we're all gonna die, aren't we?

Yep.

Nope.   Nazis are on the run since Charlottesville.

Stay focused on the bigger problem.

Real actual Nazis advising the advisor to the president is an existential problem.   Fugazi Nazis marching with tiki torches and then having their lives ripped apart and having events cancelled because they are scared of being outed as a Nazi are generally irrelevant aside from driving outrage clicks on news sites.

Real Nazis publicly espousing their ideology (America First!  Build a Wall!  Mexicans are rapists!) is more than existential.  Its permissive and its recruiting.  It emboldens some to commit their hate publicly (not just Charlottesville, but hate crimes in general are up); and expands their base.  They become normalized.  Which makes it easier for their hatred to spread.  Sometimes boldly (Charlottesville march by a bunch of 'Fugazi Nazis' who, btw, were also backed by quite a few para-miltary wannabes in body armor and AR-15s), and sometimes more sublte ways.  Why shouldn't we deport all those illegals?  Why can't we have a travel ban until we figure things out?

Sure there was a brief outrage after Charlottesville, perhaps only because a woman died, and since then most people have moved on.  The casual national news certainly has.   There are too many stories. The fewer stories written or told put more focus on Antifa and those violent alt-left thugs (why the fake false equivalence is so frustrating).

That's why I support Steve Bannon in private online conversations that could never leak out into the public where they could destroy my reputation.  The man just wants white people to be happy again.  Why do you hate white people, for being happy?

Here, but not in previous threads. You were prattling on about blood transfusions and disease before

Also not a biology guy, but I'm fairly certain that ethnically centered disorders don't always correspond neatly with our social construct of racial categories that tend to based on external appearance alone. So predispositions to certain disorders that rely on genotype alone can get lost in the shuffle.  There is a surprising number of Hispanic people in New Mexico and southern Colorado with genetic mutations that are usually associated with European Jews that predispose them to breast cancer and other disorders.  The mutations apparently stem from Spanish Conversos who migrated to New Mexico. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/the-secret-jews-of-san-luis-valley-11765512/

I can see why tissue matching would be a problem, but wouldn't "outbreeding" for mixed race kids lower the risk of recessive genetic disorders that are more prevalent in groups with a narrower gene pools? I think that social problems would be more of an issue than genetics for mixed race folks.

If anyone who's more versed in the subject wants to correct me or clarify anything, I'd be happy to hear what they have to say.

Yeah, I am fairly certain that my pediatrician has never said anything about difficulties. Again, having the ...

You are correct, Ned doesn't know what he's talking about. Your kid inherited the sickle cell trait, but doesn't have sickle cell disease. Having one white and one black parent greatly decreases the chance of getting sickle cell disease compared to having two black parents.

Valuable insight. Thank you.

Breibart is just laundered racism.

That's the least important thing about an idea. Ideas aren't money. Ideas either stand on their own or they don't. Their source and motivation can (and should) be scrutinized. But censored and discarded? You never know where a good idea might come from. Autobaun from Nazis, for example. (They were also huge into gun control)

That was a quick pivot from author trying to hard to connecr Breitbart to racists to let's hear racists out sometimes that have good ideas.

If the ideas were so benign, they wouldn't try so hard to cover up their source. I suspect you're smart enough to get that are just playing dumb.

Im a tiny bit of a milo fan and I'm not defending him.   I actually don't think anyone is.

I don't get how you can be a fan of him.

He is what 4chan looks like when they think they are trying to be christopher hitchens, given human form.

I like watching people squirm.   He makes people I think are ridiculous squirm.   Enemy of my enemy kind of deal.

Yes.  Absolutely.   Ask any comedian.  Race is still a huge part of comedy.

BIG difference: comedians are telling jokes.
Trolls are intentionally lying just to piss people off.

If I am being very selfish it does not matter at all who was in power. Middle class white male for sure. However to the people who are involved with the organization's I volunteer for it matters a great deal and it also matters to me morally who is in power.

I dont want gays to be persecuted.  I don't want us to bomb brown people for little or no reason.   I also think micro aggression is ridiculous and that the everyone gets a trophy thinking is going to kill us in the long run.

There's plenty of legitimate ways to challenge the worst ideas of the liberal movement. Using Mili "I let racists ghostwrite my articles" Yiannopoulos, is not one of them.

If you're going to expose yourself to his pseudo-intellectual clap trap, at least off-set it with legitimate thinkers.

No it isnt.  You want to be taken seriously as a wise sage who independently evaluates all things with a free mind and is respected for it.  It's why you keep trying to define yourself that way.  You hate it when people cast you off as a person not worth taking seriously.

Nah.

Which is really all that was ment. Interracial relationships blow up more often than ones that aren't. It's a bad idea in exactly the same way that, say, dating wildly out of your income bracket or education level is. There is simply a greater chance of sorrow and pain in your future.

But apparently I'm a hardcore defender of the purity of the whit race?

I'm going to need a citation for your claim. A perfunctory Google search shows that white men marrying black women have THE LOWEST divorce rate out there. So, is your view out of "concern" or do you want to admit that you just don't like it because reasons?

I can't speak to all white women, but the three or four I've dated were ok, if a bit self centered and materialisitc. The two black women I've dated (the latter of whom became Mrs. Goat) have been the most down to earth, unmaterialistic, loving (and REALLY SMOKIN HOT!) chicks I've ever encountered.

Anecdotal I know, which is why I am not going to go so far as to say all white women are a certain way, because that simply isn't the case for any racial phenotype.

"After Cannes, as Bannon pushed Yiannopoulos to do more live events that presented expensive logistical challenges, the involvement of the investing partners became increasingly obvious. Here, but not in previous threads. You were prattling on about blood transfusions and disease before

Ned Stark: Some Guy In A Waistcoat: Ned Stark: No, I don't believe that.

I don't offer people random unsolicited dating advice. This started many threads back because someone asked. It's here in this thread because other people danced around it with clever allusions and I spoke up in my own defense.

And that's fine - I'm just trying to get across that even if you're not actively out there waving signs and telling people not to do it, that it's the attitude itself that contributes in a not-insignificant way to the issue when enough people hold it. It's less about you specifically, and more about the concept itself.

I might not be doing that effectively, mind. It's been a long day for me and I'm long overdue for a good sleep. After this post, I'll probably head to bed.

I'll just say: try to keep an open mind to the possibility that the societal factors that increase the tension and difficulty for mixed-race couples includes the pressure from people assuming that they're already more likely to fail, and that holding that assumption can also reinforce the other factors that increase tension for an interracial couple.

Ned Stark: goat012006: Ned Stark: goat012006: Dang It Ned.

It's a hell of a lot closer than "hurr, physically separate all races in the name of science"

So it's more about, as a white guy, being aware that my frame of mind as a white, straight, male in America I am going to be unable to (at times) comprehend and relate to my wife's reality at times.

But that is inherently a ME problem, not a HER problem, ya get me? The fact that some interracial marriages can't get over that hump is, at least in my opinion, indicative of our (white) America's inability to see beyond our own frame of reference. This doesn't mean that on some sort of cellular level, the amount of melanin in our skins, if different, causes some sort of strange magnetic anti-attraction. It isn't biological at all, but rather entirely a social impediment. Again, not trying to speak for you, but I hope that's what you were getting at Ned.

Ive disavowed the importance of biology a couple times here, though I don't blame you for not going through with a fine toothed comb. It was only ever a social issue.

Like I said back when talking to some guy in a waistcoat when we were talking about racist abuse and exclusion impacting relationships, assigning specific blame is interesting but not especially relevant. Be it because the different experiences you've faced put you too far apart on some point of understanding, because your relationship couldn't stand up to never being invited over by family again, or because your own privilege blinded you to something important to your partner, the end result is the same: you sifting through the weckage.and Those are all risks you wouldn't face otherwise.

Does it mean no one should ever be in an interracial relationship? No. Does it mean all of them are doomed? No. Does it mean people who are in such relationships deserve to be judged? No.

Ok. Yeah. I can live with that. I don't think it is as strong as you believe it is coming from my experience, but I think I see what you are trying to say.

The infographic thing was a bit tone deaf though. C'mon you gotta own that lol.

Speaking as someone who was in an interracial/international marriage for over a decade, it is a "we" problem, and not a "me" problem. If both sides can't compromise over cultural differences, bad things happen. But that is the same in all marriages. If you can't compromise with each other, it is going to fail. Our marriage didn't fail because we were from different countries or of different races. It failed because we both wanted different things from a marriage and couldn't find a middle ground.

Because I'm pretty sure actually being in an interracial relationship will have an impact on how often that happens.

Isn't that the term you people usually use?  At least in private conversation and on alt-right message boards.

That doesn't call back to the higher imaginary WM/WF divorce rate and really seems more like genuine ragey misogyny than a tongue in cheek joke. Probably wouldn't have stolen that version.

FTFY. We already covered how the original study asserting higher divorce rates in mixed marriages was shown to be flawed, and following studies showed greater parity between mixed and same race/ethnicity.

What, exactly, is mixed about a WM/WF marriage?

I'll cop to it - that mistake is entirely on me. I was still thinking about the original the original argument you were going for for most of this thread about the reason for not dating outside your race as because the divorce rates show they're absolutely doomed to fail.

So... wait. Are you claiming that it's the other way around now?

No? Chase this quote line back to the top. It starts with some guy pointing out that one study found a lower divorce rate for WM/BF than for WM/WF relationships. I agreed that every trend has it's exceptions and that I had seen the same data myself, then shared a quip someone posted the last time we talked about that study(for indeed, everything has happened before.) After that it's just huggermugger doing some dumb ftfy shiat and me explaining why what he said is nonsensical.

Damn, first you downgrade me from proper noun status when talking to other people and now you refer to me as a different party entirely. That's cold, Ned. What did I ever do to you?

Oh? My apologies. Kinda dealing with a lot of fronts here, not keeping to strict a track of who exacltly said what. If we ever meet at a dark party or some shiat remind me of how I wronged you and I'll buy you a beer or something. We can have this debate again but loud drunk and in public.

So, to get on the same page - are you saying that study is an exception to the normal trends where mixed marriages have a more or less similar divorce rate to any other, or the debunked trend for mixed marriages to have a disproportionately higher divorce rate from your original argument?

I mean, in that particular study the WM/BF result was an exception to the trend. The later larger sample size study that "debuked" it found higher rates.

In fact, heres a side by side. Errr... over under.

Couple things:

This study is almost a decade old
Interracial marriage has increased since the publishing of the 2009 study
The source is questionable. A study was done in 08.....then real quick again in 09 that shows almost the exact opposite....and then no further research to this day.

It really doesn't matter. Waving a decade old study around and saying "checkmate nerds! Here's my proof" is leaving me limp. Dare I say "fake news"?

They're largly caught up in a really ugly cultural/religious complex at the moment. I expect the situation to start improving slowly but steadily once the Saudis get what's coming to them.

Yep.

Nope.   Nazis are on the run since Charlottesville.

Where are you getting called this? Because a quick search for any of those terms shows nobody anywhere in this thread has called you that. They've called you dumb, and pointed out you're working from a notion that was proven to arise from a flawed study, and mocked you for ignoring any points that actually bring up evidence contrary to your original argument. But nobody here has actually called you a Nazi or gator because of what you've said today.

Fascinatingly enough, i noted US policy as being fine.
That may be because of how immigrants are treated in the US - they're generally more spread out and given a chance to integrate while in most of Europe they tend to be placed into more isolated pockets. Not to mention that there's as much of a hurdle in the attitudes of the 'natives' towards outsiders as there is with anything else in regards to integration. France is a pretty good example of how the local populations actions and attitudes inhibit more than they help.

I'll bet the answer is something along the lines of "Because they're totally incompatible with Western CivilisationTM", even though recent data shows that Muslims who live in Western countries tend to accept progressive attitudes pretty readily. IIRC, the most recent data showed that Muslims in the US are actually a lot more on board with homosexuality than white evangelicals.

But Gionet, who would go on to march with the alt-right in Charlottesville, was still useful to Yiannopoulos as a gateway to a group of young, hip, social media-savvy Trump supporters.

Yiannopoulos managed all of his assistants and ghostwriters under his own umbrella, using "yiannopoulos.net" emails and private Slack rooms. This structure insulated Breitbart's upper management from the 4chan savants and GamerGate vets working for Yiannopoulos."

He was matter of factly pointing out to be mindful of how I behave, respond, and talk within the frame of our relationship. Is that what you've been trying to say? Because, love ya buddy, but you've done a shiat job lol.

No doubt. My marriage (sorry, not trying to rub it in Haha) is 10 years strong and showing no signs of abating. We get along swimmingly.

I guess I was clumsily trying to put myself in Ned Stark's head to see if I could better frame what he was trying to say. I think. At this point we've become so fluid in our interactions with each other that we are almost fully in sync as far any cultural differences might go.

I still can't touch her hair after she comes home from the hairdresser though. Or hardly ever really lol. That's how a dude gets slapped. And NO, being married to a black lady does NOT mean I'm one of THOSE white guys that thinks they've earned the right to use the N word and bust a sag. Matter of fact I am the opposite of that guy. Everyone tells me I look and dress like a cop, even though I work with information systems haha.

goat012006: Ned Stark: goat012006: Dang It Ned.

No.

Boxingoutsider: I'm saying "no, youre a dude who thinks hes different things on different days. Youre not a woman, a dragon, a wolf, or an attack helicopter" and that doenst make me trans phobic.

Purposely stepping in dog shiat and then walking into and around a reatuarant doesn't make you a dick. You're not the problem. It's those people who say you ruined their meal.
