Meh, maybe it shouldn't be a newsflash.

But something like this is so rare that it FEELS like a newsflash, anyway.

The NRA's twitter page was silent for 5 days before retweeting this announcement today. They were posting multiple tweets per day leading up to the massacre in Vegas. Why so quiet if they share none of the blame?

Ha, different kind of bleeding heart...but I admire the guess.

They're advocating, ever so slightly, for a gun control measure.

Maybe they're turning over a new lea...

Ha, can't write that with straight fingers.

So do they give themselves an F for the next election cycle?

Why expend effort to use fingers when you can just SHOOT THAT FARKING LEAF UNTIL IT TURNS OVER, AS GOD INTENDED!

They've done that before. And, after everything dies down (pardon the pun), they claw back the legislation. Quietly.

They. Don't. Change.

Well here's someone to blame if you're looking for someone other than the shooter.

From The Boston Globe

The Obama administration's role in the deregulation was previously reported by The Washington Post; on Wednesday, Obama-era ATFE official Rick Vasquez, who approved the devices, said that they were intended ''for those guys who want to look like super ninja when they're out on the range.''

That will definitely be in the Republican Talking Points memo on the subject.

Well the Boston Globe is a well known right wing rag.  Owned by the NYTimes and all.

What's Sandy Hook got to do with bump stocks that weren't used there and their approval for sale that happened 2 years before?

Newsflash!?!?!?! Stop abusing that tag! Think of the childrennnnnn!!!!!!

If bump stock was such a huge deal, why wasn't the NRA actively fighting it last month or the month before that?  fark those guys.

All Obama did was follow the tired party line, he did nothing  about our Farked mental health system;  You do realize what triggered the  shooter was his mom trying to get him committed through a byzantine court process that he found out about?  If she been able to get him a quick evaluation he would have been hospitalized and no shooting would have occurred.

Goddamn you two are farking obtuse.

It's far more likely that the BATFE does something than Congress.  This Congress couldn't reach a consensus on whether or not people should bath daily.

Is anyone else worried how the solution to gun violence seems to be "Let the government declare you crazy" so often?

2017-10-05 06:06:27 PM
Sandy Hook "Those kids should've been armed, too"
Orlando "What happened? Gay nightclub? ... eh"
Country music festival "Whoa! Hey now, we better look at some new regs"

Probably because Obama.

2017-10-05 08:23:59 PM
wow the nra agrees with that this one thing should be regulated.  this is the only thing that change, that's it so there will be no meaningful change or reform.

Too little. Too Farking late.

2017-10-05 08:25:58 PM
No snark: A applaud the NRA taking this step.  Most of their own members support many of the progressive gun laws.

Good for them, I encourage to listen and look at the add-on technology closely.

2017-10-05 08:25:59 PM
Wow! What a great day! And it only took the deaths of 58 innocent people to get them to make the tiniest concession.

2017-10-05 08:26:08 PM
God damned NRA is filled with a bunch of libtards, just like Fox News, we are going to need a Breitbart NRA alternative.

Most likely the ones already owned will be grandfathered.

2017-10-05 08:27:52 PM
NRA is scared shiatless of wider gun control laws.  Wonder how this is going to play with the gun nuts.  NRA has spent decades telling them that ANY level of gun control is just a step towards confiscation and that's all liberals want to use regulation for; slow steps to stealing your guns.

2017-10-05 08:28:06 PM
And, this will be called compromise for 50 years or so.

2017-10-05 08:28:31 PM
NRA scores points by giving up this one thing that most of the world had never heard of last week.

2017-10-05 08:30:18 PM
Remember children:

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has ruled that bump stocks do not violate laws that tightly limit ownership of machine guns

Shoelaces are still machine guns though.

So they are guilty if they don't act the way you expect?

What do they do if someone else expected them to act a different way than you?

I have to say that I didn't expect that.

Pretty much. This is like those 3-5 republicans who say nay in the house votes when a bill is passing by 60 votes. Meaningless "see what I did here? Someone give me a high 5" gestures. Give me a call when this bill gets passed in the house. Would never happen.

2017-10-05 08:33:33 PM
I've heard the "brave" Republicans coming out against this and I've noticed many of them comment on how "cheap" these devices are.

Strange observation given that the murderer was well off.
