1) Who buys salmon at Wal-Mart?
2) What are the odds that said salmon is not either canned or Atlantic salmon?

2017-10-05 08:48:18 AM
I just assume any white fish is farmed tilapia and any pink fish is Atlantic salmon. I don't buy fish... I only eat fish I catch myself.

Buying seafood from WalMart is not something I can imagine ever doing.

I don't shop at Walmart except as a last resort.  However I have the luxury of encountering eight different grocery stores on my short commute home and there would be double that if I went ten minutes in the other direction.  In areas where Walmart has priced the other markets out of business, like they do in all business areas if they can, then people will grocery shop there.  Walmart sucks (really the stores are awful) but that doesn't mean that there aren't perfectly valid reasons that people would buy groceries there.

I assume any food sold at Walmart was manufactured ina Chinese factory out of lead and toxic chemicals - like most of the other inventory.

They are often the only store that's open 24 hours in a given area, so sometimes you have to.

Sometimes the UN goes overboard with their sanctions, but I'd be fine with a resolution imprisoning anyone dumb enough to buy salmon from WalMart. They can tack on "because it supports DPRK" but let's be honest, that's not the real reason Nikki Haley will be getting fan mail.

Don't get me wrong. I do shop at Walmart it's close easy and cheap.  Usual list is beer milk bread maybe some quick dinner.    Defiantly not ever on the list would be salmon , sushi , turkey or 90% of meats.

I bought 'mixed seafood' from walmart way back when.  It was chunks of unidentifiable 'meat' with the odd piece of tentacle thrown in. We brought it home and stir-fried it in some cheap scampi sauce.  The smell was nauseating enough that it ended up being chucked over the deck into the woods, it was there for weeks as not even wild animals would eat it.  Hell, the dog wouldn't even go near it and that inbred mutt would eat the stuffing out of his doggie bed.  Don't shop drunk people.

Wal-Mart buys fish from Best Korea, and Hobby Lobby buys ancient artifacts theough an ISIS front.  Ever notice how "all American" businesses are supporting our enemies?

Pretty much the only good people you are supporting by shopping at Wal-Mart are the poor saps who won't last longer than six months because they don't need to work at a place so cancerous to simply be employed.

Shopping at Walmart either supports China or other East Asian countries.  When Sam ran it, he was big on American products.  Now, it is primarily Asia.

So what did the Walton family know and when did they know it?  Who am I kidding, they're rich, so therefore are except from all charges of treason.  You can not betray the crown, when you are the crown.

That was all marketing and nothing to do with 'made in America' rah-rah crap.  Can't remember exactly, but it had something to do with access to the ports or something back in the 80s.

Walmart is an amazing store if you need a gallon of milk, a car battery, a Playstation controller, a new light switch, a frying pan, and some underwear, and you need it all at 3am.

You go to Walgreens or a large chain grocery store?

Actually brand name things like drugs, toiletries, and cleaning supplies Wal-Mart is no worse than any other store, and is often cheaper.

But never for groceries...produce, meat, dairy, etc.

Salmon is one of the last things I'd buy at Walmart.

All the people shiatting on Walmart salmon - Their freezers work the same as everyone else's. No matter where you buy from, it was all frozen on the same processing boats and shipped to you. The only difference is the price markups

Only Wal-Mart fish I'd ever buy would be the frozen prepackaged Gortons, Van De Camp, etc I could buy anywhere and is available everywhere.

Never a fan of frozen fish, but living in Midwest it's better than nothing.

ALDI is great for many things.  Meat...not so much.

Meijer offers the same selection for me, with the added bonus that I can also pick up shotgun shells, without which all of those other items would be completely useless.

Even if you trust the supply chain, there's also the competence or willful malice of the employees to consider.

Who knows what parasites it may have in it.

Walmart is also good for shotgun shells. Hell, they usually have the cheapest ammo in a given city.

Well I would love to see that. Is the butcher shop located next to the 5 and dime store? Do you have to pump your own gas or does the local mechanic at the gas station come out from the garage bay where he repairs tires pump it for you? Is it a locally owned shoe store with a cobbler or one of those fancy Footlockers? I love a good cheese Danish how is the bakery? How big is your city?

My local Walmart is a 'super' Walmart; a combination of grocery store and the usual Walmart offerings....but they don't sell walls. Even the local Target store is a combination of grocery and the usual Target offerings...

/Shop at a regular grocery store.

Walmart is essentially an outlet for Chinese state industry.  Fun game - ask Walmart fans if they would buy products from communist countries.

Not me.
At least 50/50

I'll get mine as Costco but usually at one of the stores that carries locally caught fish, if not right right off the boats down at our local marina.
