No, I imagine it was because Carrey was annoying and Jones just wanted to do his job and get his paycheck and go on to do something more important.  That said, Carrey must be in the point of his career where he realizes he won't be considered an important actor and now can't go out and interact with normal people so he's just slowly going insane, or falling victim to untreated mental disorders or drug addictions.

I now want to work the phrase "I cannot sanction your buffoonery" into conversation. Most likely, this will be between characters at the D&D table.

2017-10-04 08:27:28 AM
It's amazing that they were able to get past their differences and work, then, because I think they were great together as a pair of villains on film. Especially in their first scene together where Riddler surprises Two Face at his lair.

And yet, Tommy Lee ripped off Carrey's performance. What Jones played might have been the Joker or the Riddler, but it definitely wasn't Two-Face.

I prefer the more cold and calculating deathtrap Riddler, versus a half-assed Joker Riddler that Carrey played.

Jim Carrey is as funny as Martin Short.

2017-10-04 09:00:53 AM
I think Tommy Lee Jones was just jealous that he lost the lead role in Liar Liar because of Jim Carrey. He really wanted to be a part of a legendary comedy that could easily sit on the shelf next to such great films like Caddy Shack, Ghost Buster's, and Trainwreck.

From everything I read, he took it very personally, and never let that blemish on his career go.

I know how he can save his career. Go on SNL and impersonate someone in the Trump Administration.

This.
Has anyone else watched the Norm show this came from? All that "there is no me" stuff and the super coffee seems like he crawled up his own ass and came out the other side.
Still funny moment to moment and the guy can move but I think playing Kaufman broke him. (He tells the story where he and Zamuda prank Heff but leaves out the part where Zamuda rapes a playmate).

Well, Jim Carrey is an un$anctioned buffoon - and Tommy Lee Jones is a great serious ACTOR (who looks like he hasn't had a successful BM in years).
Did anyone expect these two to hit it off?

1. Jim Carrey apparently has a movie coming up where he plays a comic/comic actor who is slipping away from reality. That's why he's saying crazy(er) shiat.
2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my favorite movies ever, and he was really great in it.
3. Jim Carrey is good.
4. Tommy Lee Jones is an old crab anyway, but also good.

Sometimes people mellow and change as they get older, but most times age just gives you to more time to marinate in your particular flavor of crazy.

I'll admit it, I liked Carrey's more serious work and I think it is sad that movie goers, in general, weren't supportive of his efforts.  He could've been great.

+1 Greatest Harvard victory over Yale. He was an offensive lineman, guard, maybe a tightend. Football has changed.

My takeaways from this:

I like Tommy Lee Jones and Ariel Winter's tits.

Tommy Lee Jones is a humorless curmudgeon and "serious actor".
Jim Carrey is an AW and a buffoon.

Like them both, depending on the role (although I HATED Jones' character during his days on the soap opera "One Life to Live")

My favorite Carrey story is of him staying completely in character as Andy Kaufman during the filming of "Man on the Moon".  He was a constant dick to Jerry "The King" Lawler during their scenes, going as far as to spit in Lawler's face (which resulted in Lawler slapping him).  But the best was when Lawler took director Milos Foreman aside and said "Does he know that Andy and I were friends?"

Guy tries to be a method actor, then can't be bothered to do research.

Usually, when Jerry Lawler is insisting he's somebody's friend, he's referring to an underage girl.

That movie was all kinds of awful.  The least of the problems was Jim Carrey.  (In fact, Tommy Lee Jones would have been fine as Two-Face if they hadn't decided he needed to up the crazy).

It shows, once again that DC is about 50% when it comes to movies, and about 110% when it comes to animimation.

Yeah... she'shiatting the point where she's getting on my nerves. You don't get to be a celebrity walks around in ass-crack shorts, underboob-revealing shirts, and posing with both your butt and boobs stuck out and then say "Stop looking at me! Stop sexualizing me! This is just how I dress!"

If Chris Hemsworth walked around with part of his junk dangling through the leg of a pair of tight jean-shorts, bare-chested, with a semi-woody, and then said "Hey! Stop looking at me! Stop obsessing over my body!" people would be equally amused by that protest.

She and other try to make it about slut-shaming, but it's really about pointing out when a young woman is just flat-out tacky-as-f*ck.
