(Guardian)   Solar power is the fastest growing energy sector. It's almost like the sun is beaming down on all of us about 50% of the time we're on this earth resulting in life as we know it. How could that be better than old fossil deposits?   ( theguardian.com) divider line

The sun is mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees.  Yo ho it's hot, the sun is not a place where we could live, but here on earth there'd be no life without the light it gives.

Northern: Solar and wind jobs are growing, profitable, and better for the local and global environment.

have you been to a wind farm?  serious question.  i have and i will tell you, they are a terrible blight on the landscape.  these are right next to a wilderness area.  you can hear them for miles.

The sun is an unshielded nuclear reactor. NIMBY's just like it because it's 93 million miles away.

Besides, it's grandfathered in.

Some coal state farker was talking about being in a medical clinic and somehow solar power got brought up and how it was changing the industry.

One old timer said to another one "but coal will be here forever."

People nodded in agreement.

Catlenfell: But what happens when we drain the sun of all it's energy?

Well then it becomes a giant lump of coal, and at that point we'll need all the global warming we can create.  Ergo, solar energy is actually a good thing for the coal industry.

Well, see the thing nobody realizes, the questions no one asks, about solar is it doesn't work at night and can't handle peaks and lows. Like why doesn't anyone ever bring that up or talk about it? And it's so obvious, it really is amazing that nobody in the energy business, or maybe Germany - who's solar is all wasted and hasn't replaced an ounce of fossil fuels I've been told, has considered this.

And so while I love renewables and the environment, we must reinvest in big coal to prevent grid disasters, like such as.

/Just getting it out of the way before a fiend of drew comes along.

The sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma.  If you really want to be accurate and you've watched the commentary on one of their DVDs.

There really is no renewable source of energy. Everything will eventually descend into entropy.

One does not merely descend into entropy.  Entropy is always happening.  The rate of entropy can accelerate or decelerate, but it is always happening.

...which explains the average Fark thread:  starting coherent and well ordered, then descending in a garbled, disorganized and meaningless mess of hot air.

Solar energy makes electricity from the sun.  The sun is not visible at night so solar does not work.  It is dark at night so I need to use electric lights but they won't work because the sun is not visible to make solar electricity.

What if we channel entropy itself?  They all laughed at my ideas at the academy, but I'll show them.  I'll show them all!

Ergo fossil fuels are renewable, green energy. I don't understand what you libtards have against green energy.

I read this in a super villain voice.

A friend of mine in college once told me that if he had a choice of mutant powers, it would be controlling entropy.  I found that terrifying.
