One of the earliest examples of writing found laments that writing allows young people to record things, so they memorize things anymore.

And Homer's Iliad is full of comments like how the heroes of the older generation were manly and strong, not like the effete weaklings of the late bronze age.

That's only half right, young people have been complaining about older people at least as long.
