Billy Liar: How is it surprising?  It's not unusual for somebody that works with livestock to be kicked or hit by a cow or horse and injured...in fact, because they work in close proximity with them, I'm kind of surprised it's not more common.  They're big animals and maybe not so adept at moving in confined spaces.


It's because farmers are stubborn SOB's. I've been kicked/stepped on numerous times. Most of the time you end up with a nice bruise and really sore for a couple of days. It's no use going to a doc because there's nothing they can do. Basically, unless a bone is sticking out or you're bleeding profusely, you just suck it up and move on.
