so while the white house is busy being as corrupt as humanly possible, Puerto Rico is dying by inches and we had a shooter kill 50+ people in las vegas.  oh, and the GOP is still trying to take our health care away from us, double our tax burden and give rich people and corporations tax cuts at our expense.

hmm.

You mean "inventing".  Every lib I know said they didn't like Hillary using private email.  We all said we figured she was getting around the records keeping act and ducking sunshine laws.  None of us liked it.  What we WERE saying was the reason she wasn't charged with a crime (Remember, Republicans ran the investigation, and Republicans didn't press charges) wasn't because she didn't do anything wrong, because clearly she did.  The reason she didn't get charged was because of how shiattily the laws were written.  She found a loophole and dove right through it.  If I recall correctly, that had to prove intent to the order of her basically saying "I'm doing this to skirt the sunshine law."  They looked for a gotcha and she didn't give them one.

That's all that was.  If you care about truth and hypocrisy like you say you do, then you'll remember this.

Also:
Hillary bent one rule.  Apparently, that was her only infraction ever, or we'd have heard about others.
The Trump family has been breaking all laws and rules their entire lives.. and then also broke the same rule as Hillary, several times.

I said it was stupid that she did it since she is certainly intelligent enough to know if you want it to stay secret, you do not put it in writing and she had access to meet people face to face to share anything she wanted to, as well as secure lines. She was a lawyer, so she must have been intimately familiar with the "I didn't tell you this, but...." form of legal advice. It made no sense to have a private server. At the same time, enough people emailed her that it couldn't have been much of a secret in Washington since she used it openly, and I doubt there was some nefarious agenda considering the Republicans would have jumped on even the smallest sign of it if they could have found it.

She was probably being honest: she's an older woman who didn't want to manage multiple devices. (A good reason to stop considering all these older people who don't know how to have multiple accounts on a phone, etc, but that's a whole other topic)

I get the sense these email addresses may have had a slightly more nefarious purpose... it's probably going to come down to "Carlos Danger" levels of stupidity combined with maleficence... which is a scary combination - and standard for this administration. I think that's the difference. They also don't have the excuse that multiple accounts are easier to manage than a single one, which adds to the possible ill intent.

Just change the damned laws that all government employees must use government emails that are subject to proper archival and FOIA requests, for all government business, with a mandatory jail term for not doing so. They can still have a personal email for personal lives, as most of us do - but if there is evidence they are using an account to skirt that law, they're farked.

The difference is intent.

That often is the deciding factor in whether someone is charged with a crime or not, or the degree of the crime they are charged with.

And in this case, these are people who acted like Clinton's email server was the worst thing in the world, going so far as to ask Russia to hack it, having people yell "lock her up!" over it at rallies.  Then Trump's family turns around and does the same thing, only to a greater degree? That is going to make most sane people ask questions of them and want to know why they are above following the rules or laws that they claimed, less than a year ago, was an egregious criminal act that should have landed Clinton in jail.

Actually, I seem to recall that most sources said she didn't do it to conceal anything but rather because she wanted to use an iPhone for business instead of the government-issued Blackberry. It was still stupid, but I don't think there was any evidence of her conducting secret deals out of the back of a truck while SoS.

Funny enough during the Bill Clinton years the GOP kept asking if a current sitting president can be charged with a crime.

Not me.  I said that the 69 year old grandmother probably wasn't an expert on the finer points of administering a mail server.  No emails were lost.  The FBI got what it asked for, not that they needed to ask anyone but the secret court presiding over data captured by XKEYSCORE.

Which I'm sure Comey did, if only because his gadflies in Congress pestered him so.
