WayneKerr: durbnpoisn: His Wikipedia page went from "is an American musician" to "was an American musician".  It is now back to "is an American musician".

His condition has been upgraded to "no dead yet"

That, or he temporarily gained citizenship in another country, then came back. We must weigh all options.

Tom Petty was an American musician who temporarily gained Israeli citizenship from 3:42 PM EDT to 5:17 PM EDT before once again deciding he is an American musician.

Because this is a Kentucky web site with no apparent security. This is not poker, just bet your $5 if you believe your sources. Drew wins no matter what and, frankly, I hope Tom Petty lives.

You don't listen to classic rock radio stations across the USA do you? I guarantee more than a few have switched to a block of all Tom Petty with somber announcements.

Unfortunately no.  I will do that tomorrow. Hopefully our local classics station will be playing petty.  Otherwise I plan on listening to greatest hits and wildflowers on vinyl all day tomorrow.  I already miss him

CSB:  that guitar is one of the actual guitars Harrison played with the Beatles.  If I'm not mistaken he acquired it circa 1962 or so on a visit to America.  At the time, the Beatles were famous in liverpool only and hadn't even broken per se in the UK.  he came over to visit his older sister and while in America, bought a shiatload of records and a few guitars that he took back to the UK.

he gave that guitar away to a friend after the Beatles had imploded, but in his late 80s renaissance, the friend gave him back the guitar, which he played off and on in his fewer and fewer public appearances.

/why yes, George is my favorite Beatle, what gave it away?

He is also my favorite. But I don't know so much about him.

/thanks for the cool info

Proletariat In Charge: /thanks for the cool info

too bad i was wrong...

http://www.edroman.com/featured/beatlesgear.htm

Harrison used this sturdy, stylish beauty for the early singles, the "Please Please Me' sessions and innumerable shows in Hamburg, at the Cavern, the Casbah and throughout Britain until late spring '63.  Then, after getting a swankier Gretsch, Harrison gave this instrument to Hamburg mate Klaus Voormann, who changed one pickup and hung on to it for about 20 years before giving it back to Harrison.

he got it in 1961 in Liverpool.  He did buy a guitar on his America trip but it wasn't that one.  Giving myself a ......B- on that one!

Why, in the early 90s alone, it was Tom Petty and John Popper who single handedly kept the harmonica alive.

That deserves some respect.

WoodyHayes: I hope Stevie Nicks is doing well.

my wife treated her brother recently.  (he said she could tell folks she treated him, no HIPAA issues.)  she's doing great, he doesn't get to see her a bunch but they talk frequently.  he told my wife, "when they got crazu huge in the 70s, she'd fly me out to shows, free tickets, the whole thing......it was just the most bizarre thing to see, you know, 50,000 people in a football stadium, and.....my little sister is onstage, singing to them."

/and a TFette that doesn't post a lot, she let me crash at her house once in LA.  when they bought the house, they saw on teh chain of title documents, one "Mick Fleetwood" as the owner.  CSB......

Cool story, thanks.

Could be anger issues that run in the family
