This week just keeps getting worse.

Thanks for all the great road trip jams Tom.  You will be missed.

And CBS says he has just died.

To say I am shocked is an understatement. Luckily got to see him one last time this summer on tour.
Wow.

Snapper Carr: There is an exhaustive (and exhausting - 4 hours) doc on Netflix about him which I watched not too long ago. I realized that even though I don't think I ever purchased a Tom Petty album, I loved his music

Watched it a few years back. Will watch it again!

NASAM: thismomentinblackhistory: God damn it. I had him on my list of people I must absolutely go see -- no excuses -- since 2016. God I am a lazy piece of shiat.

Me too.  I'm kicking myself for not going to see him the two times I had the chance.

After Prince and Chris Cornell, I promised myself I'd never pass up an opportunity to see an artist I like again. Even if they disappoint me.  I'm looking at you U2.

I was at Carolina Rebellion the week before Chris committed suicide.  Soundgarden was closing the first night (or was it the second?  too much beer).  My buddy and I considered sticking around for Soundgarden after A Perfect Circle closed, but we decided to beat the rush and walked out of the festival as Soundgarden started up.  Regret big time.

There's still hope.  Even brain dead he could still write better songs than the craptastic ear junk on the billboard 100

Anyone know where the Heartbreakers are? I need answers, damnit!

I'm glad I got the chance to catch your show at the gorge a couple summers back, Tom. See you on the other side.

Kim Basinger should give his eulogy.. And then steal his corpse. And then dance with it.

The circle shall be complete.

Wife and I saw John Cleese a few weeks ago.  Way better to see people in their prime or just after rather than see them biatch about their third wife for an hour.

Best way if you ask me...

RIP Petty man, you had a good run.

I saw him in the 80s, but now I cant recall if it was before or after he punched that wall. Must have been after because I think he did that Rebel song.

What the ef, man.

I've got stories but I don't have the heart to type them out.  He's been with me since the 70s.  Saw him 6 times.  This is a bad one.

One of my favorite album tracks.  This band was so locked in.

Some were better than others, but the thing about Petty is he had a 40+ year career without making a truly awful clunker album ... and most of the All Timers have made several *cough* *cough* Dylan, Neil *cough*, *cough*.

/Favorite album is Echo.
//Probably won't be able to listen to it today without falling into a heap of tears

UsikFark: Carousel Beast: The submission should simply have been "Heartbreaker" or "Heartbroken"

I thought his band were the heartbreakers. You don't think Country Joe was a fish, do ya?

Yea. That doesn't make it any less succinct or appropriate.

On the bright side, if there is one, listening to some Tom Petty will really help my mood today.

It is excellent.  Directed by Peter Bogdanovich.  He took a stand against escalating album prices and fought the good fight for all of us, and it almost cost him his career.

Wildflowers was one of my favorite CD's through college.  Got me through a lot of mopey times.  The 1995 Dogs with Wings tour was the first concert I went to by myself.  My mother wasn't pleased, not because I was traveling on my own but because I hadn't invited her.  Petty kept making good music even after Wildflowers.  "Room at the Top" would still give me a little sniffle whenever I listened to it.  It will even more now.
I pray for a miracle, but I can't help but think we're done here.  And that farking sucks.  RIP, Mr. Petty.  Save a little room at the top of Heaven for the rest of us.

If coke was so great back when, why are all the people who used so much of that great coke dying off?

If you want to watch a sad but fascinating documentary on drug use and what it does to a family (and guys like JFK) watch Bright Lights on HBO. HBO is free today on Sling TV.

The doc is from 2016, just before Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher both pass away. Very sad but Debbie kicked ass and Carrie tried.

You even get to see how the movie producers killed them both by forcing Carrie to lose all that weight. Women have to be pretty you know. Pretty and dead doesn't matter as long as it's pretty first.
