I assume it'll be great for Gilliam fans and completely invisible to everyone else. Will this one see more than 1000 theaters?

I would be shocked if it saw more than a few hundred.

Was the soundtrack the entirety of Chinese Democracy?

I'll go.  I love Gilliam's movies.  He handled the death of Heath Ledger so well in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus".  Even called it a "Heath Ledger Film" in the credits, IIRC.

Not a good sign that it's being released in March.

Gilliam...I don't know.

No one else makes movies like he does. And what he does is amazing. But I don't know if I've every really enjoyed any of his movies that much. They're neat to look at, and the weirdness is appealing, but they they're all pretty boring.

I loved Time Bandits.  But I think the problem comes down to what the rest of the Pythons said about the "Mutual Assurance Corporation": there's no real justification to what his movies cost to make (more so about infinitely prolonged production).
/what does he think he's in?  Movie marketing?

action/fight  sequences and expensive special effects are enough for most people to paper over poor writing and boring scripts.  i prefer neat to look at an weird, even if it actually is boring

It's failed because you can't fit that much material (relevant material, mind you) into a film that people will sit through. It would have to be a mini-series and it would have to have a good soundtrack and great acting. I've seen a couple in Spanish and one from some other (Russian?) production. They were all crap.

And I swear to Christ, if the English translation calls Panza's donkey "Dapple," I'll cut a b*tch.

I'll believe it when it's actually out.  If North Korea nukes us before then, I'm blaming it on Terry's hubris for continuing to make this movie.

And the tie-in game will be Duke Nukem Forever.

It took me about 20 years to finish reading Don Quixote.

Perhaps the greatest tragi-comedy ever written but Jesus Christo, Cervantes, you're beating us over the head with the chivalric satire punchline.

I even really liked his Dr. Parnassus movie... the one where Heath Ledger died before completing.

I'm sure i more highly regard Brazil over Blade Runner....  (I'm comparing them because they are both atmospheric sci-fi films from the early 80's)

Maybe this is the corrective for the anarchy wrought by the Cubs winning the series in 2016. That hell mouth needs to be closed.

January/February, I would agree.  April is shaky.  March allows for one or two blockbusters that keep up until the Summer/first of May season begins.  You do have Spring Break during March.

It will be as big as Yoga Hosers

That's great that Gilliam's back with Don Quichuvny! Those carbon copy younger agents were never gonna fill their shoes.

No, you won't.
