It says something about someone else because you wonder something political because you don't like the guy elected?

If you say so.

It's not a question of if, it's a question of when, and how.

Glad you're finally getting it!

SomeAmerican: "There were good people on both sides"

Now, don't be too hasty. We don't know his motives yet. If he was a liberal, then Trump will be quick to condemn him.

Honestly, this was my first thought when I heard that he was going to make some remarks on this.

"Our 2nd Amendment rights come first."

- or -

"If crowd members were armed, they could have shot back."

Unfair media will be whined about

2017-10-02 10:14:10 AM
They will write him a profound speech full of empathy and compassion for the victims of the tragedy.
He will then throw away the card that they wrote it on, and spend the entire time bragging about himself.

2017-10-02 10:37:26 AM
The statement that was released clearly didn't come from him. He'll be calling the victim actors and blaming Hillary Clinton by this afternoon.

2017-10-02 10:40:23 AM
"People, many people, from all sides, have called to thank me for how well I'm handling the Las Vegas shooting. The shooter was bad, he probably didn't vote for me, but guns are good, don't blame the guns."

Maybe it's me, but is "warmest condolences" right? It sounds off to me.

Many fine shooters. On both sides.

"Little Rifle Man is dead now, and everybody's happy, everybody says I did a great job. I'm going to sign an executive order to open fire at will on Little Mexican Man and Little Football Man wherever our fine men in blue see them, believe me, it will be great."

ChubbyTiger: Maybe it's me, but is "warmest condolences" right? It sounds off to me.

No it's not just you. It's a very strange phrase to use for this situation.

2017-10-02 10:44:24 AM
If this shooting turns out to be racially or politically motivated, you can be sure he'll pour gasoline on the fire. The country is in a fragile state and he will make it worse.

I will wait for Trump to actually do or say something stupid before deriding him for it.

He provides plenty of opportunity for derision on a daily basis. I need not resort to speculation.

"There's never been such a big crowd to come and see the president the day after a mass shooting, but the failing New York Times won't tell you that."

Not 'how'

It's more of a 'how much', 'how badly', and for 'how long'

This is a major litmus test.  It's a massacre by an apparent non-Muslim. If he doesn't unequivocally call it Terrorism without being prodded to do so, it will prove all of his detractors right once and for all about his being a white nationalist.

You can wait for the facts to determine a motive, but 400+ casualties can be safely and confidently termed an act of terror on its face with no further evidence needed.

I'm not too concerned about what he'll say today - he'll be reading from a piece of paper someone else wrote for him. But I'm EXTREMELY worried about what he'll say tomorrow, when no one is holding his hand.

... I have some bad news for you. Also, "once and for all" was steadily grinding away since before day 1 of his administration.

Even when you ignore the inexperience, the bad policies, the lousy appointments, the lack of direction, the spite, the corruption, etc. -- whenever he's been called upon to Say The Proper Thing A Leader Ought To Say, he's failed miserably at it, every single time.

The best we can hope for is a perfunctory ticking-all-the-boxes speech.

Yeah I think we say so.  This is about how the leader of the "free world" is going to totally beef the leadership portion of his duties.  Again.

So yes, it's political, because a verified moron is president and now we're all gripping the steering wheel in anticipation of his next retarded gaffe.

Hey he's already offered "thoughts and prayers(exclamationmark!!)"

Hand to God, I thought Two Scoops was somehow going to work in how many EC votes from NV, the crowd size, or Obama in his response. It's not about political affiliation, but rather on his sustained pattern for at least the past year now. I was pleasantly shocked at how mild and generic it was.

As for the idiots chattering about how different the outcome would have been if only someone in the crowd had been armed-seriously? I don't care who you are, or how well you're trained, you are NOT going to be able to take out a guy with a rifle at 300+ yards with a typical compact or even full-size pistol. It would be a miracle shot on a bench rest, in daylight, let alone at night and with hundreds of people running around you screaming their heads off. The most likely scenario would be that you would ventilate some windows in the hotel and probably wound or kill some innocent person in one of the rooms. That's only if the LEO on scene mistake you for a bad actor and light you up before you have the chance to "return fire!"

2017-10-02 10:59:03 AM
Well, that was kind of expectedly trite.
He's really lisping his s'es.

2017-10-02 11:00:22 AM
It's too bad for these victims that Trump emptied out the federal government's stores of aid by dedicating a golf trophy to Puerto Rico the day before.  Now there's nothing left for Las Vegas.  Sad.

2017-10-02 11:00:43 AM
So far, What i see is he already has a tripped planned for Vegas,  how long was it until he went to Puerto Rico?

Let's not act like "waiting for Trump to say something stupid" is some great act of maturity on anyone's part.

It could just as easily be construed as naivete.

2017-10-02 11:06:27 AM
"Unprecedented National Disaster(s) on American Soil" and "Worst Mass Shooting in US History" were the two big things I sincerely hoped would somehow miss his Administration.

Well, shiat.

2017-10-02 11:06:29 AM
He's not religious, yet invokes god and prayer, so that the righties can feel better.

Mysterious ways. GOD MURDERS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS.

2017-10-02 11:13:10 AM
The first thing I wonder is "Sure, he's just about the most terrible President ever. But I don't know, I think I'm kind of indecisive over whether or not I should vote for him based on this one specific thing."

He read the statement the adults put together..now we watch to see what unfolds on Thursday or Friday night. He has a big week ahead of him, he'll have to head to a trump property to relax and let loose

Well, he's an asshole, so regardless of what he actually says, whatever he says will be stupid. And assholish.

He'll be in Vegas Wednesday after spending Tuesday pretending to care about Puerto Rico.  Ready your livers.

It's "warmest regards" or "deepest/sincerest condolences". It's like the writer speaks English as a second language and hasn't gotten all the idiomatic social expressions down.
