I'm amazed how many of my favorites are showing up in this thread. More and more, though, I find myself turning to My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" when I just want to listen to music and not do anything else.

Dylan has several excellent albums. So do the Dead. This is not one of them

Corrected for truth.

There can't be a good album if there's never been a good song. Love Dylan, detest that other bunch of unwashed hacks..

Robert Hunter doesn't know your work either so you're even. Not trying to flame you (maybe lightly tweak you) but you're letting something get in the way of listening to some very well crafted songs. I can find a relevant and useful lyric in their songs every day.
Grateful Dead - Europe 72
Paul Simon - Graceland
Beatles - White Album
Lyle Lovett's Large Band - It Ain't  Big It's Large

I find myself turning to it when I have house-guests that I'd like to leave.

It's great for both those reasons. I love it, but don't generally expect anyone else to share my feelings.

If you don't have the Bloody Rarities album too, you should.

Anybody with only one favorite doesn't listen to enough music.

I could do a top ten favorite double albums even (in no particular order)

Beatles Anthology 3
Dylan & The Band - The Basement Tapes
Grateful Dead - Europe '72
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Allman Brothers - Live at the Fillmore East
Pink Floyd - The Wall
The Band - The Last Waltz
Neil Young - Decade
Black Crowes - Before the Frost/Until the Freeze
Beatles -  "the White Album"

It'd have to be a tie between:
Imaginaerum, by Nightwish and
... hmm, nope.  No tie.  Just Imaginaerum.  Not a bad song on the entire album, and every single one is perfect when listened to in the exact order.  Anyone who cherry-picks a song from this will enjoy it, but it won't be the same transcendent experience as going from start to finish.

I like the raveonettes an unhealthy amount. And the never album by micachu and the shapes. And the second side of the hunches John peel session record. And Hendrix bold as love. And nin the downward spiral. And Eno's here come the warm jets. And the stones between the buttons UK release. And I listen to Sonic youth dirty every summer for at least a week solid every year. And songs ohia. And the strokes second album. Lou Reed's Coney island baby. Etc..

I don't know...

Blood on the Tracks?
Aqualung?
Animals?
Stand in the Fire?

...or any one of  a hundred thousand more, all favorites at one time or another.

At 57, I'm not sure I have enough time left to listen to them all again.
