In the documentary with Monty Hall, he said that some people actually wanted the animals that were offered as zonks. They were rented animals. Every month a check would be cut until the animal died.

Which is why on the new LMAD zonks are for show and no live animals are used (cause PETA farking sucks).

One of the zonks was an old oil derrick.  Turns out they went for a few grand on the used equipment market.

Too bad that Monty is going to miss Hall-O-Ween this year. No treats for you Monty.

Was going to make horrible maths joke about the Monty Hall Problem having been solved, but I see I have been beaten to the reference (and far more tastefully).

So in lieu of bad and tasteless math jokes, have a Zonkey:

AurizenDarkstar: Never knew about the probability problem named after him.  But I do remember many 'Monty Haul' dungeons I ran through in the past days of D&D. :)

Yep, kinda funny in a way - I've met people that are way, way too young to really remember that guy for much - that still know who he is.  And it's all because of how someone decided to name a type of game mastering.  Friend's son is 14, and he actually asked last year due to running into it in a game.

/RIP Monty, watched a fair heap of Let's Make  A Deal along with The Price is Right when I was a kid/teen
//if the cartoons sucked enough, game shows were usually the second "meh" choice when I was seriously bored
///since we were talking 70's through the early 80's - the cartoons often sucked more than enough

Monty is asking Saint Peter if he has a paper clip

ElectricPeterTork: This is preparation for when Bob Barker kicks it.

IIRC, Monty made a few appearances on the current Let's Make A Deal in the past few years. So he was over 90 still dealing away.

First time I ever watched, the person had two choices and their choice opened a door with the most adorable looking beagle behind it. They said he lost. I looked at my grandfather who was watching and said "how did he lose? He just won a puppy!"

Heffner, Hall...wait, I think I see a pattern.

Watch your back, Hoffman!

Not Hoffman!  He's my favorite!

great video. Love the car and less than $5k for a convertible, got to wonder how much that US Steel stock would have been worth over the next 10-15 years or that fur coat as it was the first "prize" on the show. Dang everyone dressed up to be on a game show like it was normal everyday clothing.
