Meh.  Professionals often take their craft very seriously.

Huh? There were many reasons Buddy was an asshole.

This is a cover, but I like the way it illustrates the song's difficulty (and how insanely technical Meshuggah's Tomas Haake is). The arms are in 4/4 while the legs are simultaneously following the same staccato pattern that the guitar is.

As impressed as I am with Buddy Rich, I am also impressed at how well they were able to sinc Animals movements to the drum beats.  I doubt that he was really responsible for those sounds, but it appeared his limbs were moving in rhythm and even hitting the right drums in the right order in rapid succession.  And this was with late 70s early 80s tech, so it wasn't like he was a computer driven robot.

LOL, there can never be a great musician thread without the metalheads chiming in that unknown-outside-the-genre Player A is an underappreciated genius that belongs in the discussion of GOAT.

Man On A Mission: I know you're never supposed to read YouTube comments, but I did. And what got me was how so many drummers were amazed/appalled/flabbergasted that Buddy switched from traditional grip to match grip back to traditional grip during this. Many of them act like it was as if Da Vinci was caught using a crayon to color in the Mona Lisa or something.

// I know, I know...

I watched it twice and couldn't figure out how/when he did the changes. Amazing.
