Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast which came out 4.5 years later was the best one.

wonkable: X-wing alliance. You could fly an X-WING or the millennium falcon. Awesome graphics for the time as well.

Barring that X-WING vs TIE fighter as the best multiplayer of the generation.

Um, you misspelled "Tie Fighter"; greatest game in the history of ever.

/ a close second was the 1990 Red Baron.

Pretty sure it has been deemed that the best Star Wars games have been KotOR (and not the lame excuse MMORPG).

What I want is for TIE Fighter to be remade to run on modern systems with graphics to match.

Also make it VR compatible like Elite.

TIE Fighter was awesome, I played the hell out of that back in the day.  X-Wing was pretty good, but TIE Fighter improved on it so much.

The Dark Forces series was pretty dang good, I played the heck out of Jedi Academy.

I still play Star Wars: The Old Republic some, but not as much as I used to.

LOL nowhere even close. SWG was the biggest let down ever. I know it improved, but man, it was terrible. I did however like having a Rancor early on and spamming knockdown with my fists.

Indeed.

Wookies, the most painful grind to make them into the most overpowered Jedi ever.

Last Man on Earth: Practical_Draconian: Just to ask, does the Steam Tie Fighter games work w/ steam controller? Been playing retro titles on an old laptop since my tower died. Xwing alliance and the Jedi Knight games sound tempting.

And maybe I will give the original Xwing another shot.

Not sure about the Steam version, but the GOG release is controller-compatible, so I'd assume so.  It's no patch on an actual flightstick, but given how few flight sims there are these days, those aren't really worth the money.  I cobbled together more-or-less the same controller-and-minimal-keyboard control scheme I use for Elite.  The trick is to have the mid-combat controls like guns and throttle easy to hand on the controller, and leaving less-urgent controls like jumping to lightspeed on the keyboard to be selected at your leisure.

Get it on GOG.

As I mentioned, the steam versions don't work due to some sort of update that they added. I've tried compatibility mode flags on the .exe and everything else I can think of, looking online only pulls up info that was last updated in 2013 that is no longer a fix.

As it stands, playing it with a steam install, JK will play the opening cutscene, let you kill the first couple on enemies and then crash.

Outcast and Academy seem to work though.

/not sure on controller comparability for XWing though

Ranking the Star Wars games I've played ... subby btw; one of the greatest does not mean the greatest.

- TIE Fighter (and all add-ons)
- KotOR
- Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
- Jedi Knight 2
- Jedi Academy (interchangeable with the above, actually)
- Xwing Alliance (sequel after TIE Fighter)
- Xwing vs. TIE-Fighter
- KotOR 2 (Penalty for being unfinished, buggy and goddamn waste of my time trying to make Jedi/Sith sidekicks)
- Dark Forces
- Empire At War
- The original Star Wars arcade game
- Return of the Jedi arcade game
- The SNES side-scroll action games of the first trilogy
- Jedi Starfighter for the PS1
- That Star Wars arcade game at Dave & Busters that costs $2 or so to play with the lightsaber duels. Only remember it drukenly or trying to play it with then girlfriend at the time
- The Atari 2600 Empire Strikes Back game where you piloted a Snowspeeder. Sucks now, but at its time, all we had, yada yada ...
- The pod racer game
- The Age of Empires meets Star Wars prequels mod sold for full price by LucasArts.
- Rest are forgotten from this point, or I haven't played enough (Battlegrounds didn't impress me, and I like Battlefield games)
-Force Commander was farking awful to be at the bottom of my list

I didn't like them at all. Don't know what people saw in those games. =/
