BeerBear: Those surfers sure are lay back knowing Gorgon not human

That's the typical scene where the Inhuman sees that not all humans are evil and humans see that not all Inhumans are bad.

/I assume

Sooo.....why doesn't (or didn't) the Council fight Maximus there?  I mean, are all their powers "super smart" or "look weird'?

yeah, could used it to track BB location

2017-09-29 09:57:24 PM
As noted in the threads where we discussed the trailer(s) for this show...

Black Bolt and Medusa seem to be miscast...especially BB.  Too much constipated/frowny face as the only expression.

she isn't dead? and no one noticed the dead dude in the bus??

Ah crud...I turned the TV off...thought Black'ish was starting up....

Grrr...so what did I miss?  (Beyond the girl that Medusa stabbed as being alive still)

Disappointing but maybe it'll get better. I'll watch it right after Crazy XGF and wait for AoS.

Well, reviews are not kind. 4% critic score and 53% audience score on rotten tomatoes.

Well... I mean, I see what they were trying  for, but I also see that they had a budget of about $38.00 to make this show. It looks like a high school play in terms of quality, and that's hurting it a lot. I think the entire budget was spent to draw Lockjaw.

If they'd had a bigger budget and gone the way of the movies (their original course) it might have been something interesting... But as it stands, it has a long way to go to be anything but a step below Iron Fist.

I'll still watch it, but I'll treat it like a supplemental, cheaply-told story for Agents of SHIELD.

CRAAAAAAP I forgot to set the DVR.  Is it going to be on Hulu or ABC's site/app?

Well... I liked the giant space dog.

Ummmm. No.

This isn't even as good as Iron Fist.

Mr. Eugenides: Well... I liked the giant space dog.

If they pulled off Lockjaw, that's a good sign.

/I hope we get a Pet Avengers series at some point.
//It would almost certainly be a cartoon.

I liked it, I don't see how so many of the reviews are bad.  Yes, some of the effects looked a biatcheap, but Attilan looked amazing, and overall the cinematography was impressive.

I'll be interested in seeing where this goes, hopefully they give it a shot to develop and don't can it early because of some bad initial press.

They wouldn't because of press, but if the ratings tank, they'll pull it in a heartbeat. Giving it a Friday Death Slot isn't promising, though. Inhumans' connection to the greater MCU is far more tenuous than AoS, which means Disney won't even justify keeping it as "free" marketing for the movies.

Man, that dialogue was bad.  Like 'Under the Dome' level bad.  Lockjaw was cool though.

I'd say the major problems were in character development and plot.

ABC's already promoting this as 'The Complete Series'. Not Season 1; Complete. They started doing this after the IMAX premier fell flat on it's face.

Also, between this and the failure of Iron Fist, I think Scott Buck's career as a Hollywood showrunner has come to an end.

ArcadianRefugee: lindalouwho: *looks up Variety's review*

Hahaha it says this makes Iron Fist look like Citizen Kane, stopped reading there.

o_O

I'll take it that's an insult of some kind. Maybe I need to rewatch Citizen Kane, as the first time I saw it I was bored half to death; I didn't care for it at all.

That's not an uncommon response. Citizen Kane has this mythic status as 'the greatest film ever made', but it really isn't a great movie for viewers. It's definitely the greatest film ever made for directors, critics, and students though. The whole thing is basically film school condensed into 114 minutes and is seriously worthy of praise for bringing together and even pioneering various visual and narrative techniques that're commonplace today.

(I personally love it for the dialogue, and the way it carries over a lot of radio play techniques to the screen and makes them work).

I'm sure glad I didn't pay to see this in IMAX.  Acting bad, effects bad, story bad, soundtrack bad.

Best I can describe it is earnest 60s sci-fi.

'The Third Man' is better than 'Citizen Kane'
