Marvel's Inhumans
TONIGHT, 8:00 PM ON ABC, 2 HRS 1 MIN 2017 TV-PG
Behold...The Inhumans; Those Who Would Destroy Us
A divisive conflict erupts between Black Bolt and Maximus, brothers with different visions for the future of their people in the series premiere of this adventure series about stranded members of the Royal Family trying to reunite and return home...

I really don't know know what to expect with this series.  It was thrown together with IMAX at the last minute to fill a window in IMAX's release schedule and apparently it shows.  I don't expect to much but I'll watch, it can't be worse than Iron Fist after all.  When this 8 episode run ends Agents of Shield will return.  A show that Disney wouldn't let ABC cancel.

Alas my work schedule makes watching live on Friday nights out so I won't be submitting anymore viewing links for Inhumans or AoS so someone will need to step up.

DAMN IT, BARRY!

sorry.  that was a premature "damn it, Barry", just warming up.

It's gotten such negative reviews that I want to watch it out of curiosity.

I've heard it has some interesting ideas but is severely handicapped by the effects budget.

Hahaha it says this makes Iron Fist look like Citizen Kane, stopped reading there.

Saw it on IMAX with a free pass.  Ramsay Bolton was good, the rest "Meh". A sizable part of it takes place on Oahu and the geography realities held up, mostly. They did use a shot of the state capitol building for some buildings on the moon.
I thought the second episode better than the first.

######MINOR SPOILER########
Medusa's hair is problematic from a
production/effects stand point, so
they get rid of it.

I'm taping it. But my expectations are low. Like outer core low.

I read this too. So whatever minuscule CGI budget went into Lockjaw? That's it? If I just want to see Hawaii locations, I'll just watch that CBS show where they cut the Asian folks out of their CGI budget.

Which means of your two leads, one can't talk (his only power), and the other loses her power.  Not really much of a cheese shop, is it?

10 minutes to go, hope I like it

o_O

I'll take it that's an insult of some kind. Maybe I need to rewatch Citizen Kane, as the first time I saw it I was bored half to death; I didn't care for it at all.

2017-09-29 08:07:44 PM
I saw it a few weeks ago, when it was in Imax theaters. It was ok, but i couldn't figure out where it was going to go from the premier. Will have to watch again to see if actually does go anywhere

2017-09-29 08:08:07 PM
He does the frowny, mopey face down pat.

Sooo...children of Inhumans aren't Inhumans themselves...

2017-09-29 08:16:15 PM
Look, no matter what, I think we can all agree that Lockjaw is a very good boy, right?

smd31: Sooo...children of Inhumans aren't Inhumans themselves...

They are Inhumans. It's genetic. It's just that the effects/powers do not show themselves unless they've gone through terrigenesis. All Inhumans have a common ancestry (alien) but they appear as human until exposed to terrigen mist. If a human without the Inhuman ancestry is exposed to the mist, it kills them (in the MCU).

In the Marvel comics universe, the mist only kills mutants.

Once Upon A Time is still going?!??!  Wow....

Ah yeah...good call.

Okay... so my initial impressions:

* Medusa is miscast. She's just... not right.
* Medusa's hair is cheap-looking. Bad color. Bad quality.
* Medusa's dress is terrible. Just plain ugly. She deserves better.
* So... is Crystal's only power the ability to talk to Lockjaw?
* Karnak's haircut is distracting. Why not bald?
* Crystal's hair is badly done, too.
* Black Bolt looks about right, and fits with MCU ideals... So far.
* Triton looked decent, too.
* The whole show is kind of slow, though... Drags a bit with the soap opera style they've gone for.
* Still better than Pseudo Trek: Discovery. At least in this I don't hate the leads.

2017-09-29 08:40:12 PM
plot and characters super predictable so far

2017-09-29 08:40:53 PM
Casting...Maximus is okay but everyone else is 'meh' at best (at least for now).

/Crystal is attractive at least...

huh? Karnak has time powers?

2017-09-29 08:49:34 PM

BeerBear: huh? Karnak has time powers?

I'm guessing he just 'sees the future' and chooses the best path in a situation...

So not really time powers as far as doing x and then rewinding like in the Doctor Strange movie.

2017-09-29 08:49:35 PM

BeerBear: huh? Karnak has time powers?

looks more like instant calculation. The first scenario didn't actually happen.. he played it out in his head instantly

Well it's got lock jaw, so that's good

So far it's been a bit boring

Drive by thanks: this headline reminded me to set my DVR. I'm on the west coast, so I'll disappear now.

(* vrooming sounds *) Thanks!

2017-09-29 08:57:15 PM
BB killed his parents? Was that in the comics?

2017-09-29 08:57:32 PM
They're holding her arms, but her hair is still free to kick their asses. Why doesn't she do something?!

My guess is glowy hand guy temporarily suppressed her powers

Maybe the 'knock out zap/punch' made her lose her powers temporarily.
