(Daily Mail)   Apparently, we have a "creepy Hulk-like pig breeding" gap with the Cambodians   ( dailymail.co.uk) divider line

'Then, even though we have a wealth of nutritious plant-based foods to eat, these intelligent, playful, sociable animals' throats are slit and their bodies are turned into pork chops or sausages.'

I'm not sure that's the convincing argument that PETA thinks it is. Now I want pork chops.

Maybe instead of Cambodia, you can find them in a banana republic.

Reminds me of Belgian Blue:
i.ytimg.com

So yeah double muscling doesn't require genetic engineering just selective breeding.  Sounds more like outrage cycle.

Belgian blue's are awful beef cattle because they tend to have difficult births, so you are better off getting something that doesn't kill the mom when its born.  In the end you want an animal that is easily controlled, easy to breed, grows fast and produces a good amount of usable meat.

I doubt these pigs are that.

A line of seemingly genetically modified pigs are seen eating from a trough inside a pen, and just look at those balls.  Look at them!

Seemingly genetically modified? Sensationalistic, alarmist rubbish form the mail? Ain't that a shocker.

Belgian blue's worse, and they've been around since the fifties. Not a lot of genetic tampering going on back then. Sure, this practice probably isn't good for the pigs, but you could make an article about that without waving around the genetic engineering boogeyman (which in itself is largely rubbish, but that's another rant). Even the bloody PETA is on record here as claiming it's just the result of regular breeding. It's quite the achievement when the PETA give a more accurate and balanced view of things than you do.

Anybody that's been around the 4-H and FFA livestock showing world in the last ten years can attest to this, those hogs really weren't that abnormal. Maybe not slaughterhouse ideal, but for the farms that breed show-pigs, that's pretty much what their breeder boars look like.

Here's a boar from Wilderado, Tx, whose sperm sells for $150 a straw;

1.  How does the bacon taste?

2.  Can we do this with brown & blonde bears?

Currently eating bacon at a hotel in Siem Reap (next province over from Banteay Meanchey, but the closest major city) so I'm getting a kick.

PETA makes it so hard to care about stuff like this. I would listen and respect an organisation that sells ethics in farming, and guides farmers towards good farming practises that are economically and ecologically friendly.

But PETA just declares veganism to be the only way and this is proof that we should never eat meat ever.

Pig farmers don't give a shiat about that. The whole country is one of the poorest in the world and was literally set back hundreds of years of development less than half a century ago. Middle age people still have memories of their entire families being tortured and slaughtered in front of then.

On top of that the average white collar worker earns around $300USD/month, and the rest even less.

Get farked, PETA. How about you buy these farms, pay the owners what they earn now and instruct them to grow lettuce. That would solve your farking problem.

totally "them" farmers and not "us" farmers. totes legit
