I could see maybe using the $1000 to extend your line of credit--if you're already well off.

Gary, whatever you say now....Donnie is still not going to put you on the Federal Reserve much less make you the next Chairman.  That ship sailed when you came out with your mild criticism of Nazis.

You can admit this will blow the deficit sky high.  It's OK.

Is anyone actually surprised at the sort of alternate-reality horseshiat that is generated from folks who have no actual idea what the lives of the average person is actually like?

Let me know when hoisting these sort of people up as leaders has any different outcome, ever.    Next time, it'll be different, I'm sure.

Didn't Bush give out $800 checks to the poors back in 2008?

People were getting new cars, partying, paying off their mortgage, crowding the beaches in the Riviera -- adopting that rich life style only the privileged could dream of.

nmrsnr: You mean it isn't 1951?

Try 1941.

After high school, I bought a 68 Torino as a restoration project for about  2-grand.
It still had the window sticker in the glove box, and it cost $4300 in 1968.

I find it hard to think that a kitchen renovation is going to cost 20k when that's the cost of an awesome new trailer home.

My friend bought 20 polo shirts with his refund back then. It was hilarious how thankful he was to "my boy Bush"

I remember getting that check. Foolishly paid bills instead of taking that extravagant vacation.

I worked for a kitchen remodeling firm in the eighties. 20k was about normal back then, can't imagine what it would cost now.

It was 2001. It was one of the very first things that administration did--wave a chunk of change in front of voters to divert their attention from the huge tax cuts going to the uberwealthy.  It worked too.  The voters in this country are as dumb as a bag of farking hammers.

They varied from $300 to about $1200, I think. Working-class folks got $300.

Easy. Live your whole life with a silver spoon jammed squarely up your ass. This guy probably hasn't personally paid a bill in 25 years. Accountants take care of everything for him.

If $1,000 isn't enough, just sell some stock so you can get the rest your new kitchen, you neanderthals.
