To be fair, when the Blaine Traine pulls into the station, how can you not jump on board?

He wasn't fired for any reason, let alone the kneeling, subby. He opted out to become a free agent, dumbass. It's other teams that won't hire him because of the kneeling. Which is, as you point out, ironic.

Guess he wasn't very good at football since all these other, not terrible players, are taking knees and still collecting a check.

Here's a history of what GM's said about CK's game throughout his career.  Notice that it took a big turn for the worse at the end.

Also, are there ANY read option QB's currently in the league?  It's not just him sucking at his job, but that style of QB is no longer desired.  Heck, even RG3 is out of the league and he's a military brat church goer.

he just isnt a very good quarterback

How people can claim he been blacklisted by the NFL

The NFL will play PR nightmares IF THEY ARE GOOD. Vick got another shot, the list of felons, wife beaters, pregnant GF murdering etc is LONG

the one similar thread for all these players where the NFL played dumb and looked away was they were all good to very good players

Kap sucks AND he comes with a PR hit. Its not farking rocket science. If he was good a team would take a chance. But he isn't so they dont have to. He can claim its because of his protest, and i am sure there is a little to that but the big issue is that he just isn't a very good QB

2 boderline talent QBs. 1) has no PR problems 2) one is Kap. Why would you take on the headache if you had a guy just as serviceable ?

Because this last rash of protests has less to do with Kapernick and more with the NFL players union being terrified that Trump could bully owners into firing players?

//Honest quiet protest = not okay

He was horrible in 2016.
Shall I recap some of his 2016 'highlights'?
On October 13th he completed 13-of-29 passes, with 187 passing yards, one passing touchdown and 66 rushing yards in the 49ers 45-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
In a Week 13 loss to the Chicago Bears, Kaepernick threw a career-low four yards before getting benched for Gabbert.
He returned to the starting lineup the following week and threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns in the 49ers' 13-41 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Oh, and to those who say he got fired...
On March 3, 2017, Kaepernick officially opted out of his contract with the 49ers, an option as part of his restructured contract, therefore making him a free agent at the start of the 2017 league year.

But please, do keep telling us how it's all down to racism.

Yeah, the entire reason he was able to opt out in March was because they restructured the contract as a favor (the kind of thing any front office would do if possible because you don't want to make it harder to sign free agents yourself) - they were going to cut him under the original deal, the restructuring allowed him to hit the market earlier to hopefully find a job rather than being let go after free agency was essentially wrapped up and teams had made their plans.

If anything, the kneeling saved his job for another year.

Early indications were the 49ers were going to cut him at the end of pre-season last year. Then he started kneeling.

Jay Cutler isn't the "long term solution" to anything in Miami.  He was brought in for one season to replace Tannehill in an offense run by Adam Gase who Cutler has a history with and, coincidentally, had a very efficient season with.  But you know, facts don't matter anymore.

No they didn't.  There's still the tweets and statements by his girlfriend and the shirt he wore in Miami.  His kneeling is only part of the PR issue.  So, with ratings going down, it could be argued that the PR problems are only getting worse.

They were talking about bringing him to Baltimore and people went nuts about the kneeling.

2017-09-28 12:18:58 PM
Kaepernick hasn't been good enough lately for any team to take on the baggage that comes with him. If he's not that good, there are plenty of other guys who also are not that good who would get a lot less attention. He's probably better than several quarterbacks in the league, but not so much better as to make the headache worth it. It sucks, but speaking out comes with risk.

It will be interesting to see what happens now. The protests weren't getting that much attention anymore until Trump put himself in the middle of it, and now more players will demonstrate just to make it clear that they can, and they will refuse to be silenced by Trump or anyone else. Trump voters felt they were losing the cultural war, and they wanted someone to fight it. Actually, they wanted someone to just declare victory on their behalf. They obviously were hoping the other side would just cower and shut upnso they could go back to ignoring a lot of social problems in this country. That's not going to happen. You think those ungrateful black men are making you uncomfortable now, just wait.
