Agreed.

Maybe because with tweeting, we most likely get his real thoughts, and most everything else is PR written for him until he goes off script?

I fully expect to be lied to on a daily basis.  I expect most, if not all, media to go through a filter before it comes to me. I expect to take it all with a grain of salt, question motivations and data. I am actually happy we have a president that tweets.  I have a better idea of what my president is really thinking.

He lies just as much if not more when he tweets. And I'm talking about provable lies, verifiable by a simple google search.

It's interesting to learn that at least 30% of the country is pathologically Republican.

Trump or Putin?

No, if Trump hadn't tweeted, he'd be more focused on doing disgusting, spiteful, petty, hateful things, and we'd probably end up worse off.

subtle.

It makes total sense. Generic Republican always has more support than the actual candidates the GOP fields. When Trump tweets he breaks the illusion and forces people to confront who they are actually supporting instead of remaining in blissful ignorance

If he couldn't tweet he'd be spending money on TV ads. If he couldn't do that it would be radio. If he couldn't do that it would be newspapers, if he couldn't do that it would be magazines, if he couldn't do that it would be billboards, if he couldn't do that it would be mailbox flyers, if he couldn't do that it would be a town crier, and if he couldn't do that it would be smoke signals.

So, no matter the medium, he would still get his shiatty, shiatty, anti-american message out.

He's a vile, dishonest egomaniac regardless, but yeah, the tweets are a constant reminder of all that.

Unless the Presidents get even worse.

....or they grow up in a post WWIII apocalyptic future where are no governments or internet connections but that just goes without saying.

2017-09-28 04:10:47 PM
We also don't know about the causality - whether it's the tweets themselves that could be hurting Trump or the underlying issues they bring up.

Yeah. Nate, you know this as well as anyone. Trump tends to lash out when things aren't going his way. Trump's poll numbers also seem likely to decline when things aren't going his way. C'mon, man.

I think he's got both bases well covered. Often he tells lies that he knows damn well are lies. Often he says things that aren't true at all that he doesn't realize aren't true. Put the two together and it's a non-stop stream of bullshiat.

We've elected incompetent but charismatic dimwits to the presidency three times in my lifetime (Reagan, W, Trump, just so there can be no mistake), each one less qualified than the last. Can it get worse? I guess a Palin presidency would have been worse than Trump's. Maybe. The possibility of a fascist who is a competent administrator scares me.

I think we may be saved by what I am calling "the electoral hedge of stupidity".  Basically, a competent fascist will likely be too smart to appeal to enough voters (liberals won't like him for the fascism, the right won't like him because he speaks in complete sentences) to actually get elected.  While Trump might nnot be the bottom, I doubt we will have to deal with someone like Putin.  If we do, God help us all.

A truly smart one would train to speak in spittle-flecked sentence fragments. I am so disappointed in America. What a shiatshow this Administration is.
