(The Hill)   As a WV "democrat" Sen Joe Manchin has been very accommodating in voting to confirm Trump's nominees, but he draws the line at voting for Trump's nominee to head MSHA, on the grounds he runs a mine in W.Va that's been cited by MSHA as a deathtrap   ( thehill.com) divider line

Not exactly a portrait in courage there, Joe.  But it's something.

I can see that, what exactly does it represent, though?  Something like that needs a label of some kind.

Networking model. The number of times a given Senator votes on a bill with another Senator.

Basically, Manchin, Murkowski, and Collins are the ones most likely to cross the aisle to vote with the other party.

Please cross out as fits your political worldview:

(Collins/Manchin) is a shining example of the dying breed of bipartisanship that used to help our country run.  (Her/His) willingness to put party above country should be emulated by others in Congress.

(Collins/Manchin) is a traitor to their party, and should be primaried and replaced by someone who will more reliably vote with other (Republicans/Democrats)

Stupid job killing regulatory bodies...

I'm pretty sure this has been said here before -> there's not really any Democratic or Republican politicians in West Virginia. There's just rich West Virginian politicians. Whichever party they pick isn't really about principles or values.

It seems strange by today's census data that West Virginia once split with Virginia and much of the war occurred in Northern Virginia, which is where now a significant portion of the population labors in hock to Uncle Sam himself, myself included. I could walk fifty meters in any direction with a metal detector and probably find Civil War relics.

/couldn't quite figure out how to edit that one
//can i get "Run-on Sentence 2017" award?

In his statement, Manchin recalled the numerous miner deaths in West Virginia, including 12 so far this year.
Trump tapped David Zatezalo for the job earlier this month. Zatezalo is a retired former executive of Rhino Resources, which had frequent run-ins with MSHA for alleged safety violations during his tenure.

Draining the swamp, or asking the creature from the black lagoon to move in?

"I have comforted too many families who have lost loved ones serving our nation in the mines," said Manchin

WHOA!! Back the fark up you walking piece of political twaddle! They weren't "serving our nation", they were working a damn job! If being a miner is "serving the nation", you should be personally licking my balls for the "outstanding service and personal sacrifice" of my employment history. (not)

Gergesa: Stupid job killing regulatory bodies...

Literally since you would get new hires replacing the deceased miners.

Much better to have worker killing regulatory action creating bodies.

Trump: This "man-chin" is nothing of the kind; I've discovered his weakness.
Melania: Yes?
Trump: He cares. He actually cares for these West Virginia people.
Melania: Like pets?
Trump: I suppose.
Melania: Sentimental idiot!

If Manchin voted with them on everything, we'd have Trumpcare. Be thankful that there is even a Democrat there to vote against some of their bullshiat.

OR...join up with the fairy tale liberals who want to primary him, knowing that what WV really wants is a TRUE liberal to usher them into a golden age of tolerance and togetherness.

By all means, go ahead and approve this guy. When his mineshaft does collapse there will be no way for him to plead ignorance of the law and families of the victims will be able to sue him for all he is worth.

Congress has rubber stamped every other transparent conflict of interest he nominated.

Why pretend you can only see now, you turds?

The same families that likely voted for Trump in the first place.

I say confirm him and let him do whatever he wants. This is a stretch of country and a demographic that came out for Trump. Give them what they want. Who am I to tell these Real Americans that they shouldn't have rocks and timber falling on their heads? It's what they voted for. It's what they asked for. Let them have it.

He's racked up 160 violations and over 2 million in fines since 2000.
He may have a little to learn about mine safety.

That's what, an average of $12,000 per violation?

Very deterrent. Much regulatory.

Lisa: Dad, I think he's an ivory dealer! His boots are ivory, his hat is ivory, and I'm pretty sure that check is ivory.
Homer: Lisa, a guy who's got lots of ivory is less likely to hurt Stampy than a guy whose ivory supplies are low.

So have all those mining jobs come back yet?

Yeah you're right subby. We'd be better off if Joe Manchin was replaced with a real Republican. Who needs a majority anyway lol!

"In his statement, Manchin recalled the numerous miner deaths in West Virginia, including 12 so far this year."

So republican policies result in deaths of republican voters. Seems the problem will just work itself out.

He'll just get lumped in with "obstructionist Dems" no matter how often he votes in line with Republicans.

So...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
