God damn him for standing up for civil rights.

FTA: "Opioids such as heroin and fentanyl - and diverted prescription pain pills - are killing people in this country at a horrifying rate," Rosenberg said in December. "We face a public health crisis of historic proportions."

Nice that a career cop recognizes this.

Also, from a different article: Rosenberg also has been at loggerheads with Justice Department leaders over marijuana research. The department, according to officials, has effectively blocked the DEA from taking action on more than two dozen requests to grow marijuana to use in research - to the dismay of Rosenberg and others. Link (WaPo, possible paywall)

You know, when the head of the farking DEA says it's time to let research on MJ go forward...oh, sorry, I forgot that Trump brought in a bunch of science deniers.

Sessions is going to have one hell of a field day finding someone to replace the guy who also supports his "devil's weed" agenda. Things are going to get ugly.

It's like you guys didn't pay attention to Mr Authoritarian during the elections. Why are you surprised he's gonna hardline on everything except what he wants to not hardline on?

It's too bad that good people are leaving, but I get it. It must be exhausting.

Seriously, what did you expect when you supported Trump?    Christ....ALL of this was predicted.     You still voted for him.

/it's too early for me to be this upset already.

Why do I suspect that Donnie won't actually appoint anyone to the position, and will just insist that memos circulate to promote more "busting heads and copyright infringement cases"?

How dare someone speak out against roughing up some poor strung out bastard before throwing him into a squad car and ruining his life forever?

And all the haters gettin' all gnarly with everyone. Total bummer.  So yeah, thanks for hearing my rap.  Gotta go chill with my bros.  Peace out, press dudes.

The Hatch Act prevents agencies from making political statements. Of course, this law does not apply to the Trump administration because no laws seem to apply to them. For now. But the Obama administration? Yeah, the House and the Senate would have come down like the hammer of Satan.

Are Trumpers upset by this?

Most of them equate drugs with minorities.  So they want this guy out and want a hardliner in.

As long as more minorities go to jail and are not walking on their streets scaring them by being openly black...well, high time (so to speak) for Trumpers.

Science is a lie Liberals use to try to convince Conservatives not to go with what they know in their gut is right.

It's almost like millions of people should have, you know, given a little bit of a fark about who runs the country in early November 2016 but decided to stay home and watch porn or The Bachelor or whatever instead.

Good jorb.

To conclude that we as a nation are running low on dipshiats as a result of Trumps current hirings is more wrong than you might think.

We are a nation that is never, ever, short on dipshiats.

The police aren't being nice when they make sure alleged perps don't bump their heads, Jerk. They are covering their farking asses against charges of police brutality, Jerk The worst bent cops are the most solicitous of not leaving visible bruises or injuries, Jerk.

Sometimes the perps intentionally bang their own heads, Jerk. Because they are also Jerks, Jerk.

The fact that approving of police brutality motivates you, Jerkwad. is neither here nor there, Jerk.

We already know you are a Major League Asshole, Jerk. Facts are just too little, too late, Jerk.

Stop being such an obvious Jerk, Jerk.

What a Jerk you are, Jerk.

This is not a knee-jerk reaction to your Queens-born jerkiness, Jerk. It is a telegraphic STOP. JERK.

Hold your local police accountable for their misdeeds.  Target the Sheriff's Office and Prosecutor's Office during elections.  Republicans can't abuse the Justice System where liberals control it.

I'm sure you already know this, but the majority of Trump's supporters we're almost absolutely certain that Donald Trump was going to end the war on drugs.

You farking idiots.

Listening to Pod Save the People this morning, they were discussing some of the contracts cities make with police unions, and some of the ridiculous shiat--for instance, not allowing private entities any oversight or ability to investigate reports against police--included in those contracts.  They were specifically discussing Austin, TX, and the absurdity therein.

FreeBirdInTheHand: It's too bad that good people are leaving, but I get it. It must be exhausting.

Rosenberg was a piece of shiat that tried to make kratom possession a felony.  As kratom is perhaps the gentlest of substances and has killed no one, he submitted the data for o-desylmethyltramadol instead to justify the DEA's Intent To Schedule.  He's just another pig willing to incarcerate mothers and fathers for no good reason.

Hillary Clinton lost a lot of supporters that day.  It was as big a blunder as any politician had ever made approaching an election.  As millions of people across America have used kratom to deescalate narcotic addiction across America,  such a move would have precipitated an opioid crisis orders of magnitude greater than that which we are currently experiencing.

If you want a violent crime wave, outlawing kratom is an excellent way to accomplish it.

I mean, you're right. But don't forget that the republican party's strategy is to shiat on democracy and make it as difficult as possible (including impossible) for as many people as possible to vote. It's kind of like blaming the people in the ER for not going to a family doctor, when they can't get insurance because policies prevent them from both earning enough money to afford it and getting a reasonable plan.

Prediction:  He'll be replaced by one of the cops who killed Freddie Gray.

backhand.slap.of.reason: If you want a violent crime wave, outlawing kratom is an excellent way to accomplish it.

Since the DEA put kratom on Schedule I, murders are up 54 percent, rapes are up 37 percent, and robberies are up 28 percent.  We've also experienced three deadly hurricanes.  It's clearly time to legalize.
