If that mayor were smart, he'd realize the way to get trump's attention and aid is to show him pictures of naked Puerto Rican boobies deflating from hunger and dehydration...and pronto.
Big, glossy photos and requests for aid that have trump's name in every third sentence.

The best hope Puerto Rico's creditors have for ever seeing their money again is for PR to be quickly put back on its feet and for Puerto Ricans able to service the debt to not be forced by want to flee for the mainland, never to return.

Yes, you put people before debt. Without the people the debt is irrelevant anyway.

As you'd understand, subby, if you didn't see this whole business as an excuse to laugh at the misery of others.

Maybe she can show Trump hers.

She was on Maddow tonight, talking about 2 people dying in an ICU after they ran out of diesel for generators.

Oh man, I hope that farker from the main page thread comes to this one and complains about having to work to provide EBT for all the entitled takers.  That really helps.
He went from "We're already giving PR everything" to "I work to support them" in record time.

Let's let corporations and charities deal with it.

Can't Puerto Rico file for bankruptcy six times, or would that make them too presidential?

But what about the President of Puerto Rico?

He's been asleep at the wheel during all of this.

Hah. "People" above "debt"? Not in the Republican playbook they aren't...

Will they though?  When I hit the ATM at my bank it asks if I want to donate to help Texas and Florida but nothing about PR.  Maybe they don't have branches down there?

Why world they? Aren't they American banks?

Short answer: probably not.

Here's a list of banks doing business in Puerto Rico. Few do much business on the mainland, except in areas with large PR emigré populations.

I just realized, how many Puerto Ricans have sufficient ID to get on a commercial airliner? It's gonna be a solid stream of people heading out for a few months, just in time for all the seasonal jobs. Living three to a room so they can send money home.

And one of the places that Puerto Ricans have resettled the most is Florida which has helped make it more of a purple state/

Trump's ineffective leadership with Puerto Rico could ultimately result in Florida turning more blue. Oh sweet irony.

Actually, Nueva York. A Puerto Rican once told me that there are more Puerto Ricans in NYC than in Puerto Rico. I don't know if it is true but most I have met seemed to be from NYC. And yes, I know personal anecdotes don't count. :P

Might make sense from an SEO standpoint.

That was probably me  :-)

It's not true, but it seems that way sometimes, especially the Bronx..

PR's pop is something around 3.4M; in NYS, they number 1M+. Bear in mind that NYS only numbers 19.75M people, so that's ~5%.

Of that statewide ~1M, about 750K of themlive in the NYC (pop. 8.5M).  According to Wikipedia:

Bronx - 298,921 (21.6% of the population)
Brooklyn - 176,528 (7.0%)
Manhattan - 107,774 (6.8%)
Queens - 102,881 (4.6%)
Staten Island - 37,517 (8.0%)

Aside:

Since 2000, the PR'n pop in NYS has remained relatively stable, increasing by only ~50,000; Cubans, likewise, have only added a few thousand.

The Mexican population, meanwhile, has nearly doubled from ~250K to 490K, and the Dominican pop has risen from 455K to 800K+.
