I say we tie them down on Yellowstone geysers and film it for the Fuerher, er, president to watch later on.

compared Interior to a pirate ship that captures "a prized ship at sea

That's your National Parks and other public lands he's talking about. He's complaining that he doesn't have enough help for the rape and pillage.

That's a fascinating article.   Summed up:  "We want to dismantle regulations that these people have spent careers working on so that we can frack, mine, sell, strip timber, and exploit without restriction or worrying about endangered critters.   Why do they hate us?"

And my thought is: "Only 30%"?????

This is same Trump stooge who threatened Alaska with cutting off federal dollars when they wouldn't vote Trump's way on health care.

How can you be disloyal to someone that you don't actually owe any loyalty to.

2017-09-26 03:14:01 PM
He's complaining about that?  Trump had over 50% of the people vote against him, so he's way up in that department.

Gubbo: How can you be disloyal to someone that you don't actually owe any loyalty to.

That's a sane question.

2017-09-26 03:25:51 PM
They're not supposed to be loyal to Trump.

They're supposed to be loyal to America.

Trump isn't loyal to America.

What this tells me is "two-thirds of the employees at the Department of the Interior aren't loyal to America." That's the alarming part.

2017-09-26 03:36:11 PM
Ryan Zinke is a goon who in the very best case is a fellow traveler of white supremacists, brought in solely to enable private interests to exploit public lands with as little interference as possible. This should be pretty unsurprising, as the only people who will work for Trump are goons who hold repugnant beliefs. And yet he had numerous defenders among people who should really know better in the threads about his Interior nomination. I wonder where they've all gone.

2017-09-26 03:46:02 PM
I'm reasonably sure that, if they took an oath, the employees took an oath to uphold the Constitution and the laws passed by Congress (and upheld by a Court of competent jurisdiction), not an oath to bend to the whims of the guy in the White House, unless those whims align with the law.

Zinke's much-vaunted Navy career as a SEAL paper pusher came to a screaming halt after he was caught using travel money for his own personal use, so this is nothing new.
Then he stole the valour of real SEALs to get elected in Montana.

Openly if you assume that the one third number is meaningful, and not made up out of whole cloth and extracted from Zinke's butt. They have no idea how many Interior staffers are appalled by this administration because they would never bother to ask anyone's opinion. One third sounded like a pretty big number, so they went with it.

2017-09-26 04:09:01 PM
I can see where he is confused where he equates loyalty to Trump as loyalty to the country. Yes he must want this to look like some industrial hellscape like in China and damn these people for wanting to preserve some of our natural treasures.

First they purged the loyal ones, and I laughed.  C'mon.  Poochie hadn't even started officially working yet!

Montanans consider themselves an independent lot, but they consistently vote for whatever outsider Rush Limbaugh commands them to vote for... thus it is that one of the most bountiful states in the Union consistently had its natural resources ripped from it with next to nothing going to its residents in return.

Listen up Montana:

These Republicans you're electing are siphoning tens of millions of tax-free dollars of your state's natural resources for every $35k a year job they 'create'.

Not grifty enough.  Republicans had more respect for wartime Iraq than they do America.

2017-09-26 04:27:55 PM
Zinke did not go that far, but he lamented a government culture that prizes analysis over action, saying: "There's too many ways in the present process for someone who doesn't want to get (a regulatory action) done to put it a holding pattern."

How this would work if applied the the Department of Defense:

WAH! The troops and NCO's think Ready, Fire, Aim is a bad idea at the Range!!

Just like the last 4 million encouraging things like this - I'll believe it when I see it.

As of now, I do not believe it, and probably never will.

People need to stop coming up with this sort of stuff...  Either DO SOMETHING or STFU!  Don't tell us "We WILL DO something."  That means nothing.

Isn't the Republicans' aim to remove federal control of a lot of Montana's land and turn it back to the state of Montana?

Department of the Interior
Departmental Ethics Office
Basic Obligation of Public Service

Thomas Jefferson enunciated the basic principle of public service.  "When a man assumes a public trust, he should consider himself as public property."  This sentiment has been expressed by numerous others, over time becoming the familiar principle "Public service is public trust."
To ensure public confidence in the integrity of the Federal Government, Executive Order 12674 (as amended) forms the framework for the ethical behavior required and expected of all Federal employees.  As a condition of public service, you are expected to adhere to these fundamental principles of ethical behavior:
- Public service is a public trust, requiring you to place loyalty to the Constitution, the laws, and ethical principles above private gain.

That's how they phrase it, yes. They always leave out the part where the land never belonged to the State of Montana in the first place. "Giving it back to the states" implies that the feds took it from them, which didn't happen. Each state agreed in their Organic Act that the new state would get some land, private landowners would keep theirs, and what was federal land before statehood would remain federally owned after statehood.

They use the phrase 'back to the states' so that derpers will have a talking point about federal land grabs.

So you're saying that the people of Montana would have no say about the lands they would have new control over?

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke said Monday that nearly one-third of employees at his department are not loyal to him and President Donald Trump
"The president wants it yesterday," Zinke said
"Fracking is proof that God's got a good sense of humor and he loves us," Zinke said without explanation.

Great, another farking lunatic in office, and a brainwashed Yes man at that.

This isn't getting any better...
