Who could have seen that coming? I mean, if there's one guy that you could rely on to be loyal, it has to be Trump.

If McConnell is dumped on his shell.  Who would his replacement be?  Is there anybody who could be more effectual than he has been?  Not saying he's been effectual, but that dump him and you end up like the House where nobody really wants the leadership position and you end up with Paul Ryan.

At least Mitch is consistent. In his long career, he's never actually done anything but block the agenda of the sitting president.

"Our number one goal is to make Trump a 1/2 term President."

I'd like to see Burr in there. He's at least seen enough of the Russiagate evidence as head of the Senate Intel committee that he would probably be the most open to impeachment for the good of the country.

I fully expect Cruz though

Pneumonic or Bubonic? The choices of the New Frontier.

I say bring shiatheel on, it will accelerate the demise of this clown show. There is no way that Cruz and Trump don't degenerate into a hair pulling fight like psychotic high school girls.

To quote Senator Franken: I actually like Ted more than most of my colleagues in the Senate do; and I really hate Ted Cruz.

Though it could be fun to see them give it to him out of spite and vote down everything he brings to to the floor with like 90 votes against.

Orin Hatch would probably be the go to guy to replace Mitch, he's been in Senate leadership forever and it's rare to hear bad things said about him.

2017-09-26 12:28:41 PM
There isn't a thing Trump can do to McConnell. He was elected by his state, for whatever reason, and the party likes him, strangely enough.

Trump can scream and Twatter all he wants, but Mitch ain't leaving unless HE wants to go...and that seems unlikely.

It can be the new Brooks v. Sumner government official brawl, and the money shot will be Ted Cruz snatching the weave off Trump's head on national television.

It'd be a fairly even match under perfect circumstances, but McConnell has deeper reserves of desperation so he has advantage. I see a lot of biting and hair pulling out of that corner.

Tensions between the president and Senate Republicans-McConnell in particular-have been building for months. Last month, Trump reportedly berated McConnell during a phone call for refusing to "protect" the president from federal and congressional investigations into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. According to The New York Times, the call "quickly devolved into a profane shouting match."

Since he's been elected, Trump has heaped abuse on Republican congressional leaders, and they've all just sat there and taken it, rather than risk alienating the base. I suspect that if/when the end comes for Trump, it will look somewhat like this:

shout loud in the crowd
watch them beat us all down
there's a rising tide on the rivers of blood, but if the answer isn't violence
neither is your silence..
